Working for the prison has some benfits, you are given up to 5 weeks paid annual leave for the first 10 years which is a total of 185 hours a year off. once you have reached the 10 year mark, you are allowed to take 222 hours paid leave per year. after the first 2 months of service, any member can claim travel expenses back from traveling to and from work. Most jobs do not offer this scheme which is a huge benefit.

Unforuntaely there has been a 28% cut in the prison staff in the last couple of years. If you try hard it may be a secure job for life. Working in the prison service is challening in its own ways, as you have to transport prisoners, break up any fights using c0orrect technique and do extra paper work. There is a danger side to this job as a few year ago a prison officer named MR Duddy was badly injuried whilst trying to break up a fight, he had to take numerous weeks of to recover from his wounds. In this job you never know what may happen.
