This is the last offering in the series this school year, we will look to contract with Shannon at SIS again next year.

• To introduce TAR as teaching and learning stance that  allows for exploration of multiple questions in a school year

April marked the close of our learning series introducing the role of clear targets in the formative assessment process. Together we learned how to design and use learning targets that actually drive teaching student learning forward. Over the course of two months we explored topics such as...

• The Importance and Purpose of Clear Targets

• Characteristics of Effective Targets

• Developing Formatively Useful Targets through Success Criteria, Rubrics, & Scales

Using the guiding text “Grading for Equity” (Feldman, 2019) we will deepen our understanding of how traditional grading practices inhibit equity in our schools and disempower students and teachers. Through our learning we will work to identify ways in which we can change our own practices and policies to be more just and promote student agency.

This spring, our pilot team, including ISD assessment and literacy coordinators, a district principal, and instructional coach, took part in MAISA's Leader Series. Together, we're engaged in and learned more about a model for reflective practices and strategic planning to foster an inclusive environment for learning, collaboration, and networking, with a focus on enhancing professional learning systems. In April we were able to jointly attend a two day workshop in which we applied our learning to develop a comprehensive building-level professional learning plan for the following year.
