The narrator is one of the boys. The River point boys were present. The mood of the characters was shock, panic, fear, grief. The boys are panicking because they don't know who shot Grant. They are thinking who shot Grant. The information not present that we need to know is who is the narrator, who are the boys, and who shot Grant.
