Think about your lessons from last week. What did the first five minutes of your lessons look like? What did your last 10 minutes look like?

Usually I start with a "Bellringer" on the board. Students are required to answer a question (usually a review question from the class before.) I use the Bellringer question to start a discussion about the concept. To end class, I try to use an all class discussion with pointed questions to guide students to make a conclusion. I know exit slips are better to collect individual data, but I always run out of time before I use them.

I like the first few minutes of class to be sort of quiet and calm. I have students answering a "Do Now" question or set of questions while I take attendance, check homework, etc. Last five minutes typically involve students finishing an Exit Ticket, either written on a slide or (more helpful) as a Google Form with content review & reflection questions.

two minutes after the bell, I give a signal, and we play a warm-up exercise, and go into our warm-up routine. We typically don't have any talking until the first ten minutes are done. For the last ten minutes, the students go to lunch afterwards, so I go straight to the bell, and typically don't do a wrap-up activity.

The first five minutes of my lesson include getting students settled in, taking attendance, making sure all students have what they need on their desk, and getting students prepared for me to start teaching, whether that is opening up to the first page of the book, discussing what happened yesterday with a partner, or just getting the correct papers/website up. The last ten minutes of class include me finishing up my lesson and then with the last 2 minutes reminding students what is due tomorrow, if they have homework, or other work and then talking with a few specific students I need things from or just talking with students in general. I then dismiss them when the bell rings.
