Title Padlet Post with your name (first/last), and title/author of book. Thinking about a main character in your book, answer the following two questions: 1. How can readers interpret the character's human condition (conditions they cannot control), and their human nature (their choices, emotions and reactions) within the story? Please give specific examples from your text.

In contrast human condition it took look nice to others which is very prevalent when Alex beat one of his gang members because he got dirty during a fight.

In the story, David is acting out because of how much he was abused as a child. His human nature is discovered to be troubling as he steals and gets introduced to the wrong crowd at school. One example would be when he stole a toy from the local grocery store to impress is so called "friends" that eventually turn him in. He shoplifts because he just wants to be accepted by someone since his mother never accepted him as a child.

1- Readers can interpret the character's human condition based off of the things they are surrounded by or their parts, etc. An example from the book I am reading, Eventide by Kent Haruf, is that Betty and Luster are very poor and live off of food stamps. They can not control this, but are still working at improving their situation. An example of their human nature is the way they react to the situations that being poor puts them in to. They are not very happy people, and they say rude things to each other and that is human nature.

In Columbine, there are many examples of the human condition and many emotions. However, I would not say that the people the book focuses most on (Eric and Dylan) are a good example of the human condition. They experienced thoughts and emotions, almost everyone would say are not normal, and terrifying. The students however, experienced normal emotions like fear, panic, or confusion for the situation they were in. Some of the more parental teachers ran towards the danger in hopes of saving more students, not caring about their own safety, which is a big example of the human condition.
