What is the women’s role in society reflected in the movie?

In I, Tonya the women's role is shown as a victim and Vitimaizer.
Victim because Tonya suffered abuse from a young age by her mother who forced her to enter the world of skating, and always mistreated and manipulated her. When she was a young of 20 years, she met a man who became her partner, he was abusive he hit her. Tonya always forgave him. So this film shows the woman as a weak person that is unable to make her own decisions for fear of rejection and physical and psychological abuse.
Victimary because due to her breeding, she was very perfectionist, and the fact of not being the best figure skater on ice frustrated her, so with the help of her ex-husband and her bodyguard she tried t get out of the competition with her rival Nancy Kerrigan. They hired a man to break her right leg. The man caused her an injury that forced her to withdraw from the national championship and Tonya was the winner.

How is the woman perceived? On the other hand, by society and friends, she is shown as a selfish woman who does not care about doing what she has to do to achieve her goals, even if she has to hurt or harm the people around her, she will not rest until she achieves her goal.

What is the women’s role in society reflected in the movie? and How is the woman perceived? (By relatives, friends, society, and politics)
In The Suffragists, the women's role is shown as people without rights, they were rejected by society in terms of political and participatory events. Women were educated to be good wives and mothers, they didn't have the right to choose their representatives, to vote, or to study what they wanted. This movie is located in Gran Britain in 1912 and talks about the struggle of women to obtain the right to vote under the same conditions s and guarantees that man.

What is your opinion about it?
I consider that we always have been rejected by society just because they perceive us as the weak gender and that we are here just to have children and be homemakers. That's not true, nowadays we have shown that we can do whatever we set out to do, we don't need a man to be happy or to be someone there are many entrepreneurs and fighters. Women who have achieved their dreams without a man.
Being a feminist does not mean that we think that women deserve special rights; it means we know we deserve the same rights. Defending equality does not imply punishing men. Feminism does not speak of superiority or discriminate against the other gender, it just combats the inequalities that women suffer.

How do you feel when analyzing the movies? Why?
I liked to do this exercise because this is a recognition of the role of women in society, showing how valuable we are and that we deserve the same value and respect as men. It is hard but not impossible to fight for our rights and show the world that we are powerful, brave, and resilient.

What was the most uncomfortable event or situation for you? Why?
In the movie I Tonya, it was very frustrating to watch that she didn't defend herself against the mistreatment of her mother and husband. She endured blows, humiliation, contempt, and hurtful words. She never did what she wanted, just what her mother ordered.

In the movie, the suffragists made me feel angry because of the injustice and the rejection by society denying the right of the vote for women in Grain Britain in 1912 besides they were repudiated by their husbands, who had no rights even over their children.

For this interview, I chose my grandmom and my aunt.

*What questions did you ask these two female participants?

What situations from you in the past would you have wanted to do differently?

What advice would you give to the person you were at 8 years old?

What was the conception that society had about women in your time?

Did women have the same rights as men?

Was there something you wanted to do but couldn't do in your youth?

How was your childhood?

What was your hobby?

What did you wanna study?

*What stories were meaningful for the members you spoke to?
and What stories were meaningful for you and why?

My grandmother's story impacted me. What situations from you in the past would you have wanted to do differently? my grandmother mentioned the fact that she had not married my grandfather so young, she married at 20 years old, she did not enjoy her youth and she was a mother at a very young age. My grandfather was very macho and mistreated her, drank every weekend, and was also a womanizer. He never allowed her to go out and look for a job. He said that women were only there to raise children, clean the home and take care of their husbands. This is a thought that the society of this time thought. My grandmother did not separate at first due to pressure from her mother and to think about what people would say.

Regarding my aunt's story, she mentioned that she would have liked to study to be a head nurse when she began her process at the university, she got pregnant, so she withdrew from her studies, and regrets not having resumed, because she wanted to focus on her son who is now 11 years old, she no longer sees it as possible to try to study this career again because unfortunately in this society, this position is not well paid, so now she is studying administration.

* What conclusions can you make from the members' stories?
What I can conclude from their stories is that they are warrior women, fighters who had to face many battles to get to where they are now.
Despite the fact that society showed that women must endure mistreatment and drop out because their mission was only to have children and be at home, as time passed, their thinking changed and they made different decisions. My grandmother finally divorced, and my aunt resumed her studies not leaving aside her dreams.

* What struggles did you identify in their stories?

My grandmother endured pressure from society and the family, which is why she did not separate at the first moment of violence, also she was also afraid of not being able to support economically her children because my grandfather was the one who worked and supported the home financially. My grandmother did not have the possibility of studying or working, she dedicated herself completely to his children.

My aunt also put up with pressure from her family, that's why she dropped out, she didn't feel supported or able to have her child and study at the same time.

*How do/did the members cope with those difficulties (if any)?

My grandmom divorced and my aunt retook her studies

*Do you consider their stories to resemble your own personal experience? why?
I consider that their stories are not similar to my experience, since times have changed, and the role of women is no longer just raising children and staying at home. Now you are more visible in society, women are entrepreneurs, empowered, and we get ahead without the need for a man by our side to be happy. I have the possibility to study thanks to my work, I am independent and I fight every day to achieve my objectives. Having children is no longer a priority, now the most important thing for me is to fulfill my goals and travel.
