Students must be explicitly taught how to revise and how to respond to the writing of others, and this lesson does both beautifully. It could be revisited throughout the year in writing groups when students review their peers' work as well. Definitely using!

Question: How does this work with EL and SpEd students? What kind of modifications do you make? The ability of a new comer to read and understand and contribute would be very limited, as with SpEd students with certain processing issues.  So...how do you work with that kind of differentiation.
