Far too many students are just shoved down the pipeline, and not actually educated. This needs to be considered in your students and how you go about lessons. 
2. Teachers should model themselves after the "warm demander" model demonstrated in the book meaning that they should expect a lot out of their students while ensuring that they have all the resources and encouragement needed to do their best work. 
3. Teachers need to "convince students of their own brilliance". Never allow students to think they are less than, or incapable of being as intelligent as their peers. Every student can and will learn, we just have to discover how they learn best.
