         <title>4) DHHS 2019 Budget: The budget for DHHS in FY 2019 includes $90.5 billion which will fund several different initiatives such as Alzheimer’s disease research ($2.3 billion), the Violence Against Women Act and community block grants which are used to assist state and local governments recover from major natural disasters such as hurricanes (represents $725 million) (Congress just passed its 2019 HHS spending bill, 2018).</title>

         <title>5) Current News: Trump Administration Announces $1.8 Billion in Funding to States to Continue Combating Opioid Crisis. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced more than $900 million in new funding for a three-year cooperative agreement with states, territories, and localities to advance the understanding of the opioid overdose epidemic and to scale-up prevention and response activities (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2019).As part of HHS’s strategy to combat the opioid crisis, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention is committed to preventing opioid misuse, overdose, and death and is disseminating resources, messages, and funding. This funding from CDC will help state and local governments track overdose data as closely to real-time as possible and support them in work to prevent overdoses and save lives (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2019).</title>
