Sei whales suffer from commercial hunting and whaling. The whales can also be hit ships and become entangled in fishing gear. These actions are illegal because of the marine animal protection act of 1972 and the endangered species act of 1973.Water pollution and spills in the ocean can also have a big affect on the whales.

The sei whale has thick blubber that keeps them warm in cold ocean water. The baleen whalebone helps the whale filter feed to get food. Strong tail flukes help the whale move quickly through the water. Their blow holes help them hold their breath for a long time without gills. Whales are at the top of the food chain. Their natural predators are killer whales. They are a big part of keeping marine life healthy. Sei whales eat small fish, krill, and copepods.
