Today I researched statistics for the TV Shows Faking It And Geordie Shore. I researched MTV Viewers and found out that MTV is a lot more higher in viewers than MTV Base. I established that the reason for this is because MTV Base is just focussed on music; so you have to be in a specific mood to watch this channel as you only watch one type of genre. Whereas, MTV has a range of different shows for different people such as Catfish, Ex On The Beach and Ridiculousness. A channel that has more of a contrast will always have more viewers as more people will relish what it has to offer. I included lots of pictures and examples for each topic I spoke about so it's visually easy to comprehend.

I found out that MTV has Average weekly viewing per person - hrs:mins of ,0:03, 0:02 and 0:02 over the course of three months. The share of total viewing - % is 0.17, 0.14 and 0.14. I found out that Ex On The Beach has 0.77 7 day data (Millions).

What went well today was that I found great quantity of data about figures of MTV through investigating viewings. This has helped with my project by finding out which show has more viewings, such as if Geordie Shore has more viewings than Faking It, it shows how the majority of the audience prefers reality shows with over-exaggerated drama than to a comedy series.

Next lesson we will be researching OFCOM and what their regulations are; such as what we can include in our news segment. Such as it's very unlikely that they will permit us to use nudity and sexual nature due to our news segment being on before watershed; therefore, this is inappropriate for younger people to witness.

Today i researched OfCOM to identity their regulations such as no nudity, no sex involved and no vulgar language due to their target audience starting from age 12. They have this rule because they want to protect young people by not showing innapproatie content and no drug use that's not used medically and is crucial. There's a whole section of the Broadcasting Code dedicated to protecting children from unsuitable content on TV and radio, including rules about the 9pm watershed on TV. Violence, its after-effects and descriptions of violence, whether verbal or physical, must be appropriately limited in programmes broadcast before the watershed (in the case of television) or when children are particularly likely to be listening (in the case of radio) and must also be justified by the context. The most offensive language must not be broadcast before the watershed (in the case of television) or when children are particularly likely to be listening (in the case of radio). Offensive language must not be used in programmes made for younger children except in the most exceptional circumstances. Adult sex material’ - material that contains images and/or language of a strong sexual nature which is broadcast for the primary purpose of sexual arousal or stimulation - must not be broadcast at any time other than between 2200 and 0530 on premium subscription services and pay per view/night services which operate with mandatory restricted access. In addition, measures must be in place to ensure that the subscriber is an adult.

What went well was that it was easy to find information on different websites which contributed to our ideas for our news segment. By investigating OFCOM regulations, it helped us define the content that will be in our news segment and what not to use if we want our programme to be broadcasted. Such as our news segment will be on at 6 o'clock, therefore it cannot have any nudity, no vulgar or offensive language, no tasteless content and no sexual scenes due to this having the impact to influence younger people at too a young age and expose them to things that they are not ready for.

Next lesson we will be using an iPad, a phone and a camera to establish which is the most effective device to film our news segment; therefore looking out for which device has the most crisp sound and clear-cut shots.

Today we shot different types of media such as Cbeebies and Newsround using the iPad, phone and camera to see how the audio changes in different environments. We found filming outside before lunch wasn't effective, because tons of people walked past murmuring. This meant there was a lot of background noise which would distract our audience and make them lose interest for our news segment not being of good quality. We found that using the camera was the best way to film our news segment because it captured each shot crisply and smoothly and the sound was distinct. So even if there was background noise, we could just edit it out so we can hear the presenter clearly. We found using that by using the iPad and phone, the quality wasn't as profound as the camera as both the presenter and the background noise was low which would make our news segment appear adoscelent.

What went well today was that by doing experiments using different devices to film our news segment, we have concluded to use a camera such as a Nikon or a Fuji over an iPad or a phone because it conquers sound in a crisp way that it's clear-cut to hear; meaning our target audience would easily understand what the presenter is saying and the quality of the shots will be smooth and snappy.

Next lesson I will create questions to ask my target audience about what shows they watch and on which channels to make sure our news segment meets their expectations. Such as if they enjoy The Only Way Is Essex more than How I Met Your Mother, we can establish how our target audience prefers watching reality shows because of the drama.

Today I had to create questions for my target audience asking them about what TV shows they watch on what channels and for what reason. Then I had to create 5 questions on audio and visual problems for my focus group. I then had to put my questions onto survey monkey and send them out to get answers. Fundamentally, I found out that the plurality of my target audience enjoys watching a range of contrasting programmes such as Big Bang Theory and Made In Chelsea as fiction and reality gives them different experiences; a comical one or a dramatic one.

What went well was that through doing my primary research, I identified what my target audience are drawn to; programmes that can be light-hearted though still enjoys the programmes that are climatic. This aided in giving me ideas of having a news segment that covers dramatic stories that will enthral my target audience, though also some that can be quite comical. For example, a dramatic story would be talking about David Bowie's death, whereas a comical story would be Gemma Colins trying to escape Big Brother for the second time and still failing.

Next lesson I will be writing up my primary research and what I learned from it about my target audience and what they desire in TV segments. For example, I would talk about how half of my target audience likes news to do with reality shows and reality stars such as Gaz and Char from Geordie Shore, yet the other half likes to hear news about music. This means our news segment is going to have been quite broad, if we want the plurality of our target audience to enjoy it.

Today I wrote up my primary research analysis; analysing the results from the surveys I created. I started writing the project proposal and the client brief. I updated my blendspace; making sure all my homework and work was on there. I updated my targets and achievements on ProPortal such as what I will do to to be the best camera operator I can be. Such as work with the producer, use different angles to set the atmosphere, make sure what's needed is in the frame for our target audience.

What went well today was that I finished all my correspondents with my primary research, meaning I can focus on finishing my project proposal and make a proper start on my client. This means everything is in order for our pitch to be prepared. It's productive that I set myself individual targets as it makes everything a lot more coordinated and easier to work through.

Next lesson I will be analysing different audio and visual based problems in creative media and how I will solve them in a sophisticated manner.

Due to me being camera person I had to think of the opening shot. I thought wide shot would be most suited because it allows the audience to see the presenter, screen and sofa to create a casual atmosphere which our target audience would be attracted to. I also thought of the outfit the presenter should wear; such as casual clothing such as leggings and top with a hat and boots to make her stylish. This way our target audience would be able to relate easily which would make them want to watch the TV segment.

What went well today was that I came up with a range of shots that I could use in our news segment; so I am not completely clueless the moment I'm behind the camera. This will make our filming process a lot more sleek and simple. Since I decided what the presenter should wear; it makes everything a lot more organised and straight forwards.

Next lesson I will be talking about camera shots; making sure I know which angles I want to use and for what effect.

For the first half of today, we had to find solutions to problems as a group. Such as, if we are filming audio and visual on separate devices, I would use a clipper board to separate it. This way it would be clear for the editor when they have to do the job of getting everything together. If the camera battery runs out, we would have to use the iPad or find the charger to charge it up. If we want a long shot we would use the tripod as that would make it easier and more smooth. If the auto cue stops, we would have to use the clipper board to stop it then read off the iPad. Lastly, if the audio stops working, we would have to check the microphone or change the headphones.

What went well today was that we now know how to solve both visual and audio problems that could occur while filming and editing. This will help make our final product sophisticated and of high standard because if we are able to stop the camera from shaking by using a tripod or use the reduction screen when editing to delete background noise when the presenter is talking, it will make our news segment so much sharpened.

Next lesson I will be writing up my own contingency plan for my camera work, analysing problems that could occur and how I could swiftly solve them. Also, we need to start writing the script, so we can start drawing the storyboards.

Today I wrote up a contingency plan for my camera work; discussing problems that could occur and how I would solve them. I wrote an individual script for the news segment; trying to make it comical yet informative. We worked on our pre-production plans; deciding who is doing what. We picked out the best aspects of everyone's scripts and merged them together. In the team-meeting we talked about ideas for story boards and different camera shots for certain scenes; such as for the first opening scene, we established using a wide shot to set the location to make it casual. This way our target audience would feel comfortable and want to watch more to find out the news.

What went well today was that I finished my individual contingency plan for my camera work talking about problems and solutions; such as if the camera is shaky, we will use a tripod to solve it due to it being able to stabilise it. Also, we started on writing on the script; just combining certain parts of everyone's individual script so they all have contributed. We finalised what camera shots I was going to use for our news segment; using them for effect; such as a close up when clips are being shown on the TV so the audience can clearly watch what is going on or using a wide shot when the presenter is talking, so the audience can understand what is being said and see what is being shown at the same time; capturing their attention.

Next lesson I will be drawing my individual storyboard; positioning where I am going to stand with the camera, where the TV screen will be and where Chloe will be presenting since I have to make sure everything that's essential is in the shot. We will probably change the script because it was kind of enduring and long, which may make our target audience bored. I will also be thinking about shots I want to use continuously throughout the news segment to make sure I mesmerise our target audience to watch it.

Today I drew and finished my individual storyboard; establishing why I'm using certain shots and how long the duration will be. For example, the first shot will be a wide shot because it will enable the audience to see the presenter clearly and the location, which would make them feel at ease. We changed the script slightly because at times it didn't make sense or it was dragging on.

What went well was that we improved the script to make sure it capture our target audience's attention and doesn't bore them so much that they change the channel. By me finishing my storyboard, it meant that I had a clearer vision of how I want to shoot the news segment; such as the positioning of the TV and the presenter, what shot I want to open up with as it needs to be engaging for our audience. If I just use one shot, it drags on which will make our target audience lose interest.

Next lesson I need to write up the production; talking about what time we are filming and the equipment we need. I need to finish off my contingency plan.

Today I wrote up the production schedule; establishing what time we are going to shoot our News Segment, the location, props needed and the crew involved. I helped finish the location sheet with Charlie; the majority of our scenes are going to be in the Motion Room. We may have one scene, where we will shoot in front of a plain wall for an interview. I also finished my individual contingency plan; justifying reasons for solutions as the camera person. For example, if the camera is shaky, we would use a tripod to stabilise it to create smooth scenes or if the camera keeps turning off, I would make sure the battery is charged or is working properly. If this doesn't solve the problem, I would suggest using a spare battery.

What went well was that the production schedule was completed; so everyone knows what time we are filming, where we are filming and what is required. This just helps being organised and reduces stress and makes good use of our time we have.

Next lesson I need to work with Charlie on completing the Group Proposal and finish the audio plan with Chloe; such as background music playing throughout the news segment that corresponds with the events happening the Big Brother House.

Today, me and Charlie worked together on writing up the group proposal; making sure we added everyone's in our groups pieces in there such as their Contingency Plans, group storyboard, group audio plan to display how each person has contributed to the final product. We all worked on the audio plan; establishing what background music we want at certain timings and what clips we want played when. For example, when you see a clip of Scotty T and Megan McKenna, the song "I Will Always Love You" will be in the background or when you see Jeremy and Stephanie kiss, the song "Just So You Know" will be played in the background due to the music corresponding with the events happening in the house. This is just makes the news segment more entertaining for our target audience and by using songs from the charts, they will be very familiar to the songs, which would make it relatable.

What went well was that we found music for our audio plan that corresponds with the events occurring in the house and relatable for our target audience which will make it more entertaining for them. By me and Charlie finishing the group proposal, it just means a chunk of the work has been completed and we can focus on the filming aspects of our project.

Next lesson I need to complete the Group Proposal with Charlie; we need to put everyone's work inside as evidence that they have contributed to the final product. We will need to practice our pitch before actually doing it, to make sure we are prepared and ready to answer any questions and feel confident with what we are talking about.

This lesson I researched MTV such as their target audience for specific programmes. For example Geordie Shore is on at 10pm due to having vulgar language and nudity which isn't suitable for young children as it displays people clubbing every night and public fornication. This shows how they target people of older teens such as 16, 17 and 18 upwards. Whereas 16 And Pregnant are suitable for younger teens due to there being no nudity or really explicit language due to trying to show young people what young pregnancy and parenting is actually like. TV Comedies such as Faking It are on at 10:00 also because there are nudity, vulgar language and sexual scenes and references. These shows are on after the watershed to establish the type of audience they attract; you'll immediately know they are aiming at over 17 year olds.

What went well this lesson is that I learned why shows are on at certain times; such as Ex On The Beach is on at 10pm because it has nudity, sexual nature and vulgar language, which is inappropriate for those under sixteen/seventeen years of age. Or that Teen Wolf is on at 8pm due to having a target audience of 12 year olds upwards as it doesn't have nudity, rarely having vulgar language and infrequently has sexual nature (only tastefully). This information has helped me with deciding what time we need to put our news segment on to make sure we attract the applicable target audience.

Next lesson we are going to be researching statistics of different shows on MTV, to identify what shows our target audience are more drawn to; so we can incorporate the things they enjoy into our news segment.

Today I analysed different audio and visual based problems in media. Such as if the camera is really shaky, you will need to use a tripod to stabilise it and to get smooth and clear-cut shots. An audio problem would be that the audio isn't in sync with the image on the screen; if this occurs, you would need to restart the box so everything matches again. Also, I wrote up the production schedule; talking about what time we are shooting, the location, who's involved and the equipment needed. Such as the location will be the motion room, we will shoot at around 2:00, Me, Charlie, Mia and Chloe are involved as we make up the crew and the equipment needed is a microphone, camera, tripod and TV.

What went well was that I discovered how to solve audio and visual based problems; therefore if anything went wrong, I would know how to resolve it swiftly. This way we wouldn't meet any cross-roads while filming; we would easily be able to fix it.

Next lesson I will be finding solutions to media based problems that could occur when creating our news segment. I will also start thinking of a range of shots and angles I could use when shooting the news segment as I want to use different angles and shots to capture the audience's attention.

Today we had quite a successful day of filming our news segment. We came across some obstacles such as people kept randomly walking into the room while we were filming, the lighting kept changing and the words on the screen were too fast. We are going to find solutions for when we film next Monday to make sure we don't repeat the same things. We found using the green screen created problems because there was a green shadow covering the presenter which was distracting. For some reason the words on the iPad moved at too a fast pace, meaning the presenter struggled to read which meant, we had about twenty takes before we got it right.

What went well was that we could experiment using different camera shots and realised the green screen may not be the best option due to having a green shadow over the presenter which is not the effect we wanted.

Next lesson we are going to edit what we have filmed and see if any of it is usable, so we know what to do on the following Monday to improve.

If the camera battery is running low or if it keeps flickering, you need to change the battery. If the lighting is too dark, you can ask for extra lighting equipment. If you need a green screen, you can use the one from the Powerpoint. If you keep getting distractions such as random people keep walking in while filming, you should put a note on the door, which will inform everyone that you are filming and hopefully either wait till we are finished or just not come in at all which is good.

What went well was that we found clips to use for our news segment to make it more interesting for our target audience.

Next lesson we need to finish filming.

Today we started writing up the evaluation on our advertising brief. I discussed the problems we faced; both visual and audio. For example, the camera kept being out of focus which was very time-consuming and we didn't have time to lose. We had problems with the audio since we couldn't send over the audio clips through email. This meant we had to use the camera's audio which was not always loud and clear. I discussed what I would have done differently if I was to do a similar project in the future. I said that we should practice using the equipment before we start filming, so we are all comfortable and confident with using it. This way we could avoid problems occurring or at least know how to solve them. I said that I felt we were rushed and didn't have enough studio time which put pressure on the whole group.
