My project part of Community Alphabet is a series of workshops for active associations (local community organisations) to explore, support, and explain different processes to support them work with public resources in the city (funding, communication, Swedish law regarding associations, project management, collaboration with the public sector, etc). The program runs with 3 local partners and will target 5-6 associations (15 participants) and will start in April 2024.

After completing the program, the associations can apply for a small grant to implement one activity/event in one of our public spaces (150-500euro)

Why we are doing this?

We think about the social sustainability of the neighbourhood as we do not know when our projects end, and to build capacity for the local associations to explore and run their own projects if we (the partners) are no longer working as mediators between public sector + local associations.

I am talking about science teachers, about teenagers passionate about robotics, about engineers and innovators, primary school teachers, parents, museum curators, designers, researchers. They share a passion about science, education, they value innovation and the quality of the educational process.

So far we've had 3 workshops and all of them were very fun and interesting.

Currently, it is living an ongoing transformation to become a more open, more inclusive and more participative Museum.

In order to endeavor this, a Transformation Lab has been created for the Museum, with the aim of creating a new community which will help to design the outcomes of this transformation.

Both the Lab itself and its community are called “La Batidora” (the Blender/Mixer in Spanish), because this transformation is build upon the idea of blending the principles of what a Museum ought to be and obtain an unprecedented formula.

The main scope for creating this community is to offer youngsters a space where they can socialize, learn, and feel comfortable to express openly their queries, and opinions and ask questions. The community will be coordinated by adults and a similar number of youngsters to invite them to be co-creators for something that is dedicated to them. We envisage to tackle theme of interest for them and to invite facilitators to interact on the specific theme (self-esteem, public speaking, bullying, sexual education etc) and we encourage them to socialize with the others youngsters similar age from a different school in order to exchange ideas and make friendships.

We will come back with the outcome from the 1st WS. Meanwhile we are working on the identity and creating online pages on social media, but also looking for a dedicated place to create a dedicated Hub.

We have organised some gardening sessions (on the photo), I´m having individual interviews based on the ABCD knowledge with our neighbours and we are planning to organise local picnincs – meE(A)Tings at the garden. Our goal is to know the community, it´s interests, assets and passions and to be here with them.

However we are still waiting for the village Mayor to approve our papers after the reconstruction of the building, so we can´t really work properly and as much as we would like to.
