The pigeon's demands get more outrageous as the tale goes on, but the readers must stand their ground and not be fooled. Requires a bit of dramatization for full impact. Great for teaching responsibility and how to stand your ground when asked to do bad things.

No one seems to realize this is a hippo! And as it starts growing, it starts wreaking havoc in the classroom--but the teacher refuses to acknowledge. Finally, all the children gather together at recess and find a "sneezy" way to get Mr. Stricter to release Bruno into the wild. Great pictures. A lot of the jokes are not in the text at all. It teaches students about what is the right thing to do and to understand that sometimes you can't have what you want because it really doesn't fit in your life, and many times is causing more harm than good.
