1. "Martha Graham -Graham had strong feelings about marking during rehearsals. Helen McGehee, a dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company from 1944 to 1972, recalled her mentor's stance on marking: "Don't! if you must, then mark the physical movement but keep intensely the dramatic meaning. Never mark that. And keep the true timing and musicality of the role. Always be involved with what you are intending."(Anon, n.d.)

2. "Jack Cole - Much of his work features a dynamic soloist (often female), backed by an all-male corps of dancers. This formula popularized the femme fatale vision—female strength, rooted in sexuality." (Anon, n.d.)

3. "Jazz dance has its roots in African tribal folk dance. However, choreographers like Jack Cole, Jerome Robbins, and many others amalgamated this dance form with bharat natyam and ballet, and revolutionized the dance form." (Anon, n.d.)

4.
