Children were often forced to work in many types of working environments. However nearly all was the same. Many of the conditions working as a child was low pay. Also long hours maybe over 10 hours. Usually they were payed 10 percent of an adult working the same job. They also received little to no education. Many of them were devieved by owners of Factories by giving them a contract knowing they couldn't read it. Making them work longer hours and get payed less because of their trickery. Factories with machines were dangerous because children could lose fingers or end up killing themselves. Most conditions children especially female couldn't be trusted unless was supervised so they were often watched all day and was supervised when going outside. Most guys had to work tiresome jobs including mining making them never see the bright of day. Working from morning to night. They also could get black lungs from inhaling too much fine coal.

Children would often go to work because of their parents financial circumstance. In which if they poor and needed food, children would work. Another reason was their parents forced their child to work. Adults and children often thought education was worthless and working was more important and of value. Many children thought that working was a part of life and you can't ignore it or run away from it.

Employers would hire children because of the benefit to the company or factory. Mainly They would only pay them 10 percent of an adults salary and sometimes were not paid but rather given shelter and food. They would also employ them for longer hours. Also was able to deceive them with contracts. Also since children tend to listen to what they been told and follow commands. They were sure they wouldn't cause riots. Children were also smaller and were able to grab part that fell into machinery

Child labor laws began to develop during the 1930's. However communities and states tried making laws for child labor since 1899, however many of the times child labor laws weren't ratified so it took many decades. It began to develop because of the cruel acts employers have done. In one Massachusetts glass factory. The perimeter of the factory is fenced off meaning the boys couldn't leave. Their job was to carry hot glass for the entire night. This angered churches and the communities . Also another reason was because children worked for 50-70 hours a week.

The United States has tried to develop laws over the past 1900's. However after coming up with 3 laws they weren't ratified by the states. In which one of the was prohibiting child labor. However in 1938 they ratified the Fair Labor Standards act. In which you have to be 16 to work during school hour. 14 for certain jobs after school. Also 18 for dangerous work. After these acts were passed it saved children from factory work and the evils of employers.
