For the class map it was a lot easy because i just had to choose where on the paper was then door and filled in the rest.

2) The main problem that I faced and everyone else faced was drawing the map on paper because the real world is a globe shape. So we all got confused.

3)  The map scale on the Mercator maps we use today are to scale mainly. The only problem is the north and south poles and things near it will be a little bigger in size. It was very hard to copy the exact lines from a 3D globe with no colours. In addition, I had to calculate the classroom's area which was not easy.

I found it quite difficult to work out where each place was meant to go so all of the seven continents and five oceans fit nicely onto the paper.

2. A challenge I think cartographers face is transferring a proper image of a map from a 3D object like a globe onto a 2D object like paper. I think it would be hard to properly transfer the map, because you wouldn't know where to place things or where to start your map, E.G You could put Australia in the middle of a map but then you would loose America, because you wouldn't have anymore room to put it but on a globe you can rap it around.

1. I think the main purpose for map scale is to know how big somewhere really is so you can compare it to how big it is on the map to real life. E.G Singapore could have 45k across from east to west and that could transfer on the map to 2cm. So it was hard to draw all the objects in the exact format as the actual classroom. Drawing a map of the world based on the globe was hard because you need to put a 3D shape onto a 2D flat paper sheet of paper, but you have to do it circular so if you fold the sheet of paper it will become a globe.

I think that when we had to draw the classroom map, I thought that it would be easier and with enough time it would be a great map, but it wasn't so easy and we got about half a lesson tho work on it so I couldn't finish it.
I can't help thinking about professional cartographers who do this for a living and how they feel when they would look at their finished map. would they feel proud or would they feel bad that it looks distorted or would they be satisfied with the fact that they did their best.
The purpose of the map scale is to show us how big the map distance is in real life.

In order to be a good cartographer, you have to be a good drawer. This was a problem for me, because I'm not exactly an art teacher.

 It was also not that easy when we drawing the map from the globe onto the paper because It was really hard to get the size of the different things on the map right. It was also hard to do the globe to map things because whenever i was looking at something and trying to copy it down someone would turn it to face their direction

2) I realised that being a cartographer was a lot harder than it seemed because you have to be really good at drawing and its impossible to put whats on a round 3D shape onto a flat piece of paper.

3) The purpose of a scale in the map that we use today is to show how big things are so that you don't just look at a map of the world and say "oh this sea is two cm long!'

Also the globe we used didn't have many words. So it was hard figuring out which country is which.

I realised being a cartographer may be one of the hardest jobs in the world because cartographers have to identify countries and continents. They have to identify the shapes of the country, and where it is. It is quite tough.

Maybe map scales help us in measuring the distance from one place to another. It helps us digitally, instead of measuring it physically.
