2) I think, in my case, it depends on who is correcting.  I typically welcome constructive feedback from teachers, and even peers, but completely hate feedback provided by family members, which usually causes me to shut down from speaking completely.

1. Full immersion in the country where the target language is spoken (socia interaction is a must). Example: learning German in germany 
2. Depends on the manner, the person and what kind of correction and for what purpose. Example: if a friend is constantly correcting me by reiterating the correct grammatical gender of every single noun that i get wrong in a casual conversation.. probably would be annoying.

My ideal language-learning environment is a social and communicative one in which I am interacting naturally with a native speaker of the target language. 

2. When someone corrects my grammar in my second language  I feel a little frustrated - I should know this already! But I also feel grateful (afterwards), especially if they took the time to explain the rule to me.

3. To help a struggling student, I would try to create a friendly/personal relationship with them and aim to get a better understanding of what is holding them back academically.

I don't mind correction if the feedback is clear and examples are given. If the teacher corrects my error in front of everyone and embarrasses me, then I'd feel "bad" about my errors and lose my motivation.
