Not all foods were rationed like fruits and vegetables weren’t rationed as well as fish but they were often in short supply especially tomatoes , onions and fruit shipped from other countries the Government encouraged people to grow their own vegetables in their own gardens or allotments many public parks were used for this purpose the scheme became better known as dig for victory . And surprisingly ice cream wasn’t rationed either.
