Look through the board that we used last time for brainstorming and create a "project proposal." Tell me exactly:

Goals and Objectives: What precisely are you hoping to accomplish?

Significance: How do you justify your goals and objectives? How will this benefit you, or others?

Project Plan: How will you accomplish these goals? How does your project design lead to the outcomes you envision (logically and logistically)? What is your timeline? What final product(s) will result from your plan?

Type up your proposal (you may work with a partner or small group and submit only one if you choose) and add as a sticky. Then, over break, vote on your classmates' proposals. We will move forward with the winner when we return!

Goals and Objectives: Portray not only my opinions on how to improve the community, but also share my fellow peers' ideas for communication and effective actions.
Significance:
The goal is to document new projects we could partake in, current events within the community, statistics of important things that pertain to our everyday lives. This piece will just provide knowledge, prompt creativity, and spark conversations.
Project Plan:
My project plan is a newspaper. It will include things like breaking news -which causes us to stay in the know on current events and do research; logistics on possible dangers in our community, updates on our school district and what we are changing, jokes or a cartoon section, and interview/or an "ask ...", include a highly debated topic for discussion, etc. I think it will be fun to have an outline that everyone can make their own.

Goals and Objectives: I would like to do a project where I can just have creative freedom and write about myself or make a scrapbook of my life.
Significance: I think it would be nice to have complete freedom over what I write and what better project than one about your life? This project would be beneficial to me and everyone else because in several years, we can reflect upon our writing and reminisce.
Project Plan: I would like to do a scrapbook, personally but there are a lot of things that you could do with this type of project. I think that this shouldn't take very long if we do 10 different prompted questions for us to answer. As a result of this project, you have a piece of memorabilia to display at your graduation party and be able to reflect on.

Goals and Objectives

For this project I believe we should find a way to incorporate skills we each feel we excel in to show that not all projects should include requirements.

Significance

The significance of this project would be for us to show everyone that we are all great writers in our own way. It will be able to show other teachers that including requirements to project hinders our ability to show our true passion and what we are most interested in. By doing this project I hope we are able to show how much we enjoy writing and other subjects when we are not told what to do and how to do it.

Project Plan

The plan of my project would be for each of us to choose a writing sample we want to do the most. For example writing a poem, shorty story, reasearch paper, song lyrics, etc. Then once we complete the project we chose to do, we all come together and discuss how this project intrigued us more than writing projects we are told to do with set requirements. And also discuss how this helped us grow as writers and individuals. Then for the learning showcase we can present to teachers and even the school board how requirements effect our willingness to do a project to the best of our ability and even causes some not to want to do it all.

Goals and Objectives
I believe we should pick a topic that we feel strongly about whether it be a global, social, school, etc. related issue. We should argue for a specific change or why something shouldn’t be changed and how it will effect our world, positively or negatively, if it were to happen or be taken away.

Significance
By choosing a topic we already feel strongly about we are able to express ourselves and our own opinions, by having to consider how this issue effects the world we are forced to step out of our own mind and consider the lives of other people.

Project Plan
I think everyone should pick a topic that they can argue for and then create a project about it, whether that be an essay, a poem, a tangible model, or other. By allowing us to choose our own topic within a specific criteria (argumentative issue) as well as choosing our medium we have enough freedom to create unique projects while still focusing on the main point of improving the world around us. With everyone choosing different topics we can discuss the topics that are important to us as well as have an insight to how other view the world and how certain components help to shape it. This project would only take a few weeks, with already having knowledge on your topic the only research we would have to do is how others feel about the topic.

Goals and Objectives
My goal is to write about what is going on in our community and ways we can help to make the community and world a better place. A lot of times we just write about what is going on but we never act on it, allowing the problem to still be there.
Significance
This project will help to bring attention to the problems the community and world have. When doing this, our class can learn what it is like to help others and better our problem solving skills on methods to create a better world.
Project Plan
I will accomplish these goals by identifying a problem in our community and researching more on it and then writing about the topic. After learning about how it is negatively effecting the community, I will then find ways to change what is happening. When people are actually out talking to people who suffer from the problems, they will gain a better understanding and will also be able to help in the process. The person to person contact will create more emotion toward the subject than just writing about it. My timeline is to be done by the learning showcase. The final product is students making a positive impact on the community and gaining a greater passion and prospective for the topic.

I want there to also possibly be a physical object for us to have, that way it would be easier to not only present to the class, but at the learning showcase.
Significance
This would allow us to be creative about a subject that actually interests us. Which, I believe will make the final product better.
Project Plan
We all would chose a topic we are passionate about. Find research, and create a write up for our proposal. We would then also make a poster for the learning showcase to present our idea to the community to show how our proposal would improve the community and why it is important.

Students should use their knowledge from analyzing other works of literature to improve their own. Show that they know how to use rhetoric devices to improve their argument on a topic. Students should be able to use, syntax, detail, diction, imagery and description to make what they are writing interesting to the readers.

Significance:

Through the goals and objectives we will be able to show, not only everything we have learned this school year, but also show our abilities to use these new found skills to make ourselves better writers.

Project Plan:

The goals will be accomplished by writing an essay, a poem, or a journal entry. The rubric will outline the expectations of the students writing. There should be an expected amount of uses of rhetorical language. The rhetoric should be used properly with no grammatical or punctual mistakes throughout the writing.

This project will lead to outcomes of the student having confidence in what they are writing about more so than they did at the beginning of the year.

This project will take two weeks.
