Women in Iran face significant discrimination and are often subjected to abuse of power, including restrictions on their freedom of movement, dress, and education.

    Additionally , Anoosh is also a victim of discrimination and marginalization because of his Kurdish ethnicity. In the book, Marjane's mother tells her that Anoosh's father was executed because he was Kurdish. This is an example of discrimination based on ethnicity, where people are targeted and mistreated because of their race or nationality.


    Overall, Anoosh's character in "Persepolis" serves as a symbol of the abuse of authority that is targeted towards minorities, women, and marginalized people in Iran. The book illustrates the struggles of these groups in a repressive society, where the government's power is used to suppress political opposition and deny basic rights to those who are different from the majority.

    the author of Persepolis, Marjane Sattrapi , shows how the veil is used to control women's bodies and limit their freedom. Women who refuse to wear the veil are seen as disobedient and are often punished or discriminated against. This can be seen in the story of Marjane's mother, who is forced to wear the veil in public but refuses to wear it at home, where she feels safe from the judgment of others.


    In one scene, Marjane's mother is insulted by two fundamentalist men who harass her in the street, telling her that "women like [her] should be pushed up against a wall and fucked and then thrown in the garbage" and that if she didn't want that to happen, she should wear a veil. This interaction shows the extreme misogyny and violence that is directed towards women who do not conform to the strict dress codes enforced by the Islamic regime. Further more the author expresses the use of emanata with Marjane's mother bursting into tears from the interaction, which only further causes the readers to feel empathy hence directing the attention towards


    Marjane's mother's experience highlights the harsh reality of life for women under the Islamic regime, who were subjected to constant harassment and violence for not conforming to strict gender norms. Despite this, Marjane's mother remains strong and resilient, refusing to be silenced or controlled by the regime's oppressive rules.


    Through this scene, Satrapi depicts the veil as a symbol of the regime's attempt to control and suppress women, and how the strict dress codes were used to perpetuate gender inequality and restrict women's freedoms.
