Maths class is a repetition and memorization of technical facts.

We are not comfortable with Maths. 
We don't question the authority of numbers.

Maths permits a THINKING THINK.
What is it?
It is a think that doubts, understands, conceives, imagines, perceives. 
This is the kind of thinking that we need in M. class every day.

1. START WITH A QUESTION
(not with answers, because with this you memorize steps and not the process.
There's no place to imagine, doubt, refuse.)

2. STUDENTS NEED TIME TO STRUGGLE 
(the longer we spent, the more the class came alive with thinking.
Develop curiosity, motivation, the ability to take a risk.

3. YOU ARE NOT THE ANSWER KEY
("I don't know, let's find out!"
M. become an ADVENTURE. 
If you are not the a. key, you create space for the conversation and debate.)

4. SAY YES TO STUDENTS' IDEAS
(Saying yes is not the same to say "you're right".  You can accept even wrong ideas into the debate. 
To have your idea dismissed, out of head is disempowering.)

5. PLAY!
(M. is not about following rules, is about playing, exploring, finding.
