From his student days, Ales was an active participant in Belarussian politics. With his art and performances, he repeatedly demonstrated his attitude towards the government, but the artist was never discouraged by the threat of detention or criminal and administrative penalties. This is what happened this time as well - Ales Pushkin, convicted for his painting (portrait of a Soviet fighter Yevgeny Zhikhar) and for participating in protests, faces 12 years in prison.
