My favorite part is the repetition of the number 11. I love how the clock stops at exactly 11:00 am, and then Haroun can't stay focused on anything for more than 11 minutes. I like how Miss Oneeta claims that Haroun is "...stuck fast on his eleven number and cannot get to twelve." I think I like this because I notice numbers often, and I like repetition in general, like in poetry, songs, etc.

I dont know if this really counts specifically to haroun and the sea of stories, but one of my favorite parts about it was the literary devices. it might just've been because we learned about them so i was looking for them for the first time, but literary devices really propel the story and really bring the text life. For example when "harouns eyes almost fell out of his head" it allows the reader to envision what is happening in the text very clearly. it just makes the story better overall in my opinion.

I think this book was filled with so many metaphors that it's almost a blurry line between what's real and what's a metaphor. For example, I think that Haroun not being able to stay focused on anything for more than 11 minutes could be interpreted as a disability, and through the events of the story I think that it's possible that this book could be trying to convey to readers that no matter what struggles you deal with internally you can still make a difference and make the lives within your community better. This really just seemed like a creative way to get a very inspiring message across to all readers.

My favorite part of this book is the importance of storytelling, this is one of my favorite parts of the book because it's something that is constantly brought up, and it gave me a strong take away of telling my own story, and telling my family's story , and learning more about my own family and asking more questions about my heritage. An example of this is when haroun and rashad learn the full importance of storytelling and protecting the stories on Kahani they feel more inspired to pass on their knowledge, and own adventures.

My favorite part is that they show how the Gups are friendly and talkative, while the Chups are more serious, and not talkative. For example, in the book it explains that Chups are silent "whereas Chup is silent as a shadow". Also, in the book it explains that Gups are people that tend to talk a lot "King Chattergy raised his hand; the crowd fell silent. (An unusual event in Gup City.)". I like this because it reminds me of me and older brother because I'm more like the Gups and my brother is like the Chups.

The emphasis of the darkness that surrounded them while they were captured garnered quite a poignant catalyst for me personally.

My favorite part of this book is how they use metaphors and other literary devices to keep the story interesting. I liked this specifically because when I read books I am always looking for these literary devices so I can compare it to other books and as I was reading this book when I came across a metaphor like when they described the building like a cake in the beginning I like that I get to now have a different way of looking at a building. I also like how when they do these types of metaphors I get to start thinking about the connections and how they look similar.

My favorite part in the book is when the Walrus and his friends surprised Haroun with honoring him for the service he had done for the people of Kahani and the ocean of streams of story's. This was my favorite part because I like how at first how they made him think he was in trouble with the walrus and that none of them would help him talk it out and tell the walrus the real story because in the end they were just tricking him, until they told told him how honored they were of him and were going to give him a chance to grant any wish. I think I like this because I like to play little tricks on my family and friends to be funny!
