Author: Michael Dibdin

Normally, I am not fond of reading adventure or mystery books but I liked this one:) It was about the famous dedective Sherlock's adventure of solving a mysterious event (It was his LAST adventure, because...No spoiler) The narration was fastmoving and captivating. It was the first book I read this year, perhaps I understood the story inaccurately. Anyway, it was easy to understand and enjoyable 👍🏻

I liked the book. It was very good. And I played its game before, it was excellent. But I don't know if it was because I had played the game, but I thought that what was going to show in the book was very clear. The language was simple and understandable♡. Only at the beginning, it was written from first person, I couldn't understand that who was the main character because of this. But other than that, it was really gripping and entertaining. I recommend it♡♡

But I think, the heroes were Whispering Knights, not the children. The story was full of magic and the stones called Whispering Knights were protectors from dark magic and Morgana of course:) The narration was easy to follow and understand but I felt like it wasn't that much enjoyable to read.

Author: Sue Leather

This book was about three different stories of three different women. One of them was trying to pass desert with camels, one of them was trying to climb one of the highest mountains and one of them was trying to sail alone for months to travel around the world. The narration isn't boring, it's enjoyable to read but stories were not interesting. As I wrote before, I am not fond of adventure books. Therefore, I can recommend this book for the ones who like reading adventure books. By the way, it was not my cup of tea but I liked the feeling of freedom when I read the women's stories.

Author: Anna Sewell

This book was about a horse called Black Beauty. This horse was fed by so many different stablemen. All of them had different charachteristics. Some of them were very cruel and some of them were very compassionate. The story was mainly about the hard times horses used to have. The narration was ideal to read. I like sad stories because I find them inspiring. The story includes reality of history. People used to treat cruelly to animals in the past. While I was reading, in some parts, I felt sorry and in some parts, I felt happy. I recommend it☺️

I noticed that it was the short form of original one. I found it interesting and started to read. There were so many names and it was hard to follow all the charachters. Until the last part, I understood absolutely NOTHING:) But when I understood the main idea, the story seemed meaningful and impressive. It was beneficial to being able to learn the social problems that people faced in the past. It may look boring at first glance but the story was sad and expressive. If you like reading realistic and dramatic stories, I recommend it:)

The story is full of adventure and surprises, which kept me interested from the beginning to the end. It is about a young boy named David, who faces many challenges after being kidnapped. I liked David because he is brave, clever, and determined to find his way back home. I also liked Alan, his friend, because he is loyal and strong.

The book shows the importance of friendship and trust. Even though David and Alan were different, they worked together to survive. It was very inspiring.

Moreover, I learned new words and phrases. It also helped me understand a little about Scottish history and culture, which was really interesting.

I think this book is great for people who enjoy adventure stories with action and emotions.

Author: Oscar Wilde

I read The Picture of Dorian Gray, and I think it is a very interesting book. The story is about a young man named Dorian, who stays young and beautiful while his picture grows old and shows all his bad actions. It was exciting but also a little scary because it shows how dangerous it can be to care only about beauty and pleasure.

I liked the way the book made me think about life and choices. Dorian was a complicated character. At first, he seemed nice, but later, he became selfish and cruel. I felt sorry for him because he made bad decisions that ruined his life.

The writing style is very descriptive, which makes the story feel rich and vivid. The detailed descriptions helped me imagine the characters and their emotions clearly. I also enjoyed how the author created a dark and mysterious atmosphere in the story.

This book is great for people who like deep and emotional stories. It teaches a good lesson about how our actions have consequences. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys stories about human nature and morality

This leads to many exciting and sometimes scary moments in the story.

I liked how the author described the friendship between the three children. It made me think about how important it is to trust your friends and never give up.

The setting of the story, with the old barn and the strange atmosphere, felt very magical and mysterious. The mystery kept me curious, but the story was a bit slow at times, and some details were repeated too much. While the characters were decent, I felt like some of them could have been developed more, especially their backstories. The setting at Big Moose Lake was described well, but I think more focus on the surroundings could have added to the atmosphere. The plot is interesting, but it sometimes feels predictable, which made it harder to stay fully engaged. The story’s focus on crime, morality, and the legal system keeps readers engaged, and the characters are well-written, especially Janr, whose inner conflict is relatable. However, some parts of the story felt a bit rushed, especially towards the conclusion, where I expected more depth in the resolution.

I think this book is really captivating and I enjoyed reading it. Also, the language is clear🙂. It tells the story of Utterson, a London lawyer, investigating the criminal Edward Hyde. While reading, you dive into a mysterious atmosphere and trying to guess the ending. At first glance, you may think that you can guess the ending but lf you’re reading this book’s oxford version, (yeah it has different versions and movies) l recommend you NOT to read the introduction (as l did🫣) Why? Because there was a huge spoiler! Anyway.. lf you don’t read the first page it is okay.. You can enjoy the strangeness of that shock feeling🙃

Girls, I think there was a mistake and this post was deleted.

Retold by jennifer bassett

This book wasn't just a story. It was full with stories about people who were played with fire. Firstly let me explain what I meant with playing with fire: sometimes people do something that they know it's wrong to them but do it because society thinks these things are important in social statues. Book's first story was about a man who defrauded the investors. In fact, he was not such a person, he was a kind man who trustworthy and loved what his job.As always, money deceived him and he became the person he shouldn't be. Another story was about a woman:

There were a woman who wants to get promotion and she also did that she shouldn't do. Men, as usual, looked down on women at work. Even though she deserved the promotion, the managers scammed the woman because they didn't want to take a few dollars out of their pocket. A buster manager promised to give her the paper she wanted if she had a night with him once. She definitely shouldn't have done it because she was married and it was a very immoral proposal. But she wanted the money. In the end, a thief stole her bag so she couldn't get a promotion. There were more short stories But I guess those two are enough. I do not recommend this book if you want happy endings.

She has a great imagination. However I don't know why I always came across to orphaned child books. Maybe after reading this book I tried to find such books. However they are compeletely different.

Anne used to live in orphanage before two siblings decided to adopt an orphan child. In fact, they wanted to adopt a boy to make him work in their farm. However, a misunderstanding lead to adopting Anne instead. Anne started to live with them in Green Gables and she loved this captivating village. She started school and the story tells us about Anne's life in there.

It was easy to understand, there weren't many scientific terms. The plot was really gripping and not boring, you can follow the book while reading, your focus doesn't get distracted. The book is briefly about the investigation of a successful detective whose cousin was killed. As the case progresses, more complicated events occur and more corpses are found. Also, while reading, we unintentionally look for suspects in ourselves (although I do this in every book). You can finish it in one sitting.

Author: Robert Louis Stevenson

When I try to choose a book from the library, I read the back cover and the first page.

I did the same and after finishing the book I realised tha the first page had all plot twist in it but Im a really forgetful person and I forget whats written on the first page too. Moreover, when I first looked at the book I was expecting something different from the story but this one was also great.

Its about a strange man, his connection with a respected man and some murders.

Its a really gripping book, when you start a chapter you find yourself reading the next chapter already. Its easy to understand and makes you curious about what will happen next. Usually I can predict the end but this time I didnt, which adds a point to the book. Finally I liked the way the book connected all the events together and gave an explanation at the end. If youre looking for some engaging mystery, you can give it a try.

Author: John Briley

This book was generally about Black Consciousness. This means black people have the ability of being successful without the help of white people. The main character Steve Biko was the founder of this organization and idea. In his whole life, he worked for regain the rights of black people and make them free. On his way, he met an editor called Donald Woods. He became one of the biggest supporters of Biko and even though he was white, he lived and worked for black people while the others didn't bother to do anything. The story was really interesting. I am fond of these kind of books, therefore, I guess this is my favorite book in Oxford Library. The story is impressive and the narration was easy to follow despite all the unknown words :)

I would recommend this book

Actually, I was expecting to read something more action-packed, even though I don't like adventure :) In addition, it could be more related to historical events maybe, for those interested 🙂 I liked the narration of the book, it was easy enough to follow the story. On the other hand, the events were solved easily and quickly, which made the story a little bit simple. Anyway, if you are interested in realistic events and want to read something that will make your brain rest, I reccomend it😄

I am not sure if I give so much importance to the stages but I think they matter. I chose the true book I guess. It was captivating, interesting and the plot is strong enough. It is about a mysterious event chain about a man called George Ashton. Malcolm (main character) searches for the reality about him while trying to balance his relationship with Ashton's daughter as her husband. I really liked how the writer told the events, maybe it is not a must-read for everyone, but give it a chance :)

Dorian says, “I wish the painting would get old, and I could stay young forever.” Surprisingly, his wish comes true.

While Dorian stays young and beautiful, the painting starts to change. It becomes older and uglier every time Dorian does something bad. On the outside, Dorian looks perfect, but inside, he is becoming a worse person.

The book talks about beauty, youth, and how people can change when they care only about appearance. It also shows how dangerous it can be to live only for pleasure and fun.

The story is interesting, a little dark, and makes you think. If you like stories with mystery, emotion, and a bit of horror, you should definitely read it!

He sees how people live on “both sides of the fence” — the good side and the bad side. This idea is a symbol in the story: the “fence” is like a line between right and wrong.

The story is realistic and emotional. Many teenagers can understand Corey’s feelings and problems.

Oxford's Ghost Stories is a collection of spooky short stories, each with its own ghostly mystery. The stories are written by different authors, and they all explore strange and scary events that happen to ordinary people.

In one story, a man stays in a haunted house and hears strange noises at night. As he investigates, he discovers the truth about the ghost who haunts the house. In another, a woman is haunted by a mysterious figure who appears in her dreams and slowly starts to take over her life.

The stories are different, but they all have one thing in common: they create a sense of fear and mystery. Some ghosts are scary, while others are sad or tragic. The settings are also eerie — dark forests, old buildings, and remote villages.

Each story in Oxford's Ghost Stories is perfect for people who like a little thrill and mystery. They're not too long, so they’re easy to read if you want a quick scare before bed!

Author: Charlotte Brontë

I read Jane Eyre , but to be honest, I didn’t enjoy it very much. The story was sometimes slow, and I found it a bit hard to connect with the characters. Jane is strong and independent, which I respect, but the love story didn’t really interest me. Some parts were interesting, like the mystery in Mr. Rochester’s house, but overall, it wasn’t my type of book. Still, I think it’s a good choice for people who enjoy classic literature and deep emotions.

I couldn't understand much while I was reading. Also it was hard to remember and understand who was who, thank God a benefactor wrote who was who at the beginning of the book.Apart from that, why did the girl suddenly become close to these men? They just met, logic error or love at first sight. Anyway, if we don't count these problems, it was good, I can't say that I wasted my time.

I finished it in one sitting. The characters were worse than the devil, the fiction was ridiculous, the language was too simple. They made one of the characters a devil while trying to make him smart, and they ruined the other one while trying to make him pure. Especially Dorian!I swear!A complete...anyway, I won't spoil my mouth. I got very angry with the characters while reading, I want back the hour I spent reading this back.

It has a sweet story, but you get bored really fast. I think it supossed to teach us manner but I wish they made it more fun. It is so girly. I mean, whom would like to read about four girls goes to the party with ugly clothes and they feel ashamed because of that. It is a classic that spilling a colourful drink on somebody's dress and They are poor so that they cannot afford new clothes. At the first part of the book, they were thinking about buying new things to themselves, but later they decided on buying new things and give it to their mother. That part was the sweet one and others are really boring.

That was my favorite book compared to the oxford's. It might be the best sci-fi book that I have ever read. I wish I had a captain Nemo in my life. He was really honorable, clever and kind man. Mr. Aronmax tried to show him bad but it was the people's mistake that they made him like that. They killed his family, friends... I would never ever attempt to escape from his submarine. The submarine's rooms are fancier that our and bigger than my house. He is the most intelligent peole I have ever seen. The only bad thing is that about lady submarine is that you can only eat sea food, with the things made from sea like sea salt, moss salad or caviar for egg.

Author: Arnold Bennet

I really enjoyed reading this book. Since the book is set in early 1900s there are social classes and the main character Denry is a child of a cleaning lady which makes him lower class. Hopefully, Denry is a clever and cunning one. For instance, even though he didn't get high scores in school, he changes his marks on paper. I don't say it was a great idea but it all started after that. Once he got that courage, he also found the courage to do other things as well. Here, I won't spoil them. Baically, in the book we read about the tricks and mind games he plays to earn money, convince his mother to move and become mayor. In my opinion, every idea was exciting and worth reading.
