According to the article "How nature boosts kindness, happiness, and creativity" by Jill Suttie the article states "In another study, researchers in Finland found that urban dwellers who strolled for as little as 20 minutes through an urban park or woodland reported significantly more stress relief than those who strolled in a city center." This quote proves that walking around for as little as 20 minutes can decrease stress. This quote also proves that walking in a woodland helps more than walking in a city center.

This is true because according to "How Nature Boosts Kindness, Happiness, and Creativity" the studies showed that even being outside for 10 minutes, or just even looking out the window, it showed that people had a "More encouraging, open mindset." (Suttie 5). This shows that nature helps us greatly. It also shows how Nature is, even if we don't realize it, somewhat connected to us and makes us happier.

While I am biased, about this, i'm also leaning towards the fact that it makes you feel pessimistic. It sounds eccentric, but walking through nature makes you think of all the ways of something bad could happen. Though, it also makes you feel creative as stated above, almost as if you are in a little drawing. Most artists think the same way and draw what they see. Happiness maybe, seeing the birds in the sky or seeing the green grass.

The things we see out there in the forest are things us humans have seen in the past. Everything we humans see was now taken because of us especially. We were originated from nature as ages ago we had no technology, but we took technology to far and made cities and what not.

I believe spending time in nature help keep us happy and healthy. I know it makes us happy because it says in the article How Nature Boosts Kindness, Happiness, and Creativity by Jill Suttie, " In one 2015 study, he and his colleagues randomly assigned 60 participants to a 50-minute walk in either a natural setting (oak woodlands) or an urban setting (along a four-lane road). Before and after the walk, the participants were assessed on their emotional state. . Results showed that those who walked in nature experienced less anxiety, rumination (focused attention on negative aspects of oneself), and negative affect, as well as more positive emotions, in comparison to the urban walkers. They also improved their performance on the memory tasks." This shows that nature makes us less stress and happier. It also keeps us healthy by us hiking and going up steep hills. That is why I believe nature keeps us happy and healthy.

Spending time in nature help us stay happy because nature helps up "feel more alive". In the article, "How Nature boost kindness, happiness, and creativity" by Jill Suttie, it states that nature helps you be kind and generous. There were lots of tests to prove this. For example, "The researchers concluded that experiencing the beauty of nature increases positive emotion—perhaps by inspiring awe, a feeling akin to wonder, with the sense of being part of something bigger than oneself—which then leads to prosocial behaviors." This means with research and tests, they concluded that when people are in nature, it increases positive emotion than other people who are exposed to urban settings.
To connect to my life, I think nature really helps people stay happy. Whenever I'm stressed out, I just walk to my backyard and just walk around. To me, this is very soothing and non-stressful. This is why I agree with why nature is a place to relieve stress and to have people be happy.
This is why nature helps us stay happy. With research and tests, this is scientific proven and instead of being inside and having stress, anxiety, and many more, there is a solution to this. Nature has beauty and great scenery. I hope people -- especially children, go outside to enjoy nature and to relieve stress, anxiety, and many more.
- Katie Chung

But to others, it is home away from home to them.
From either perspective, the nature can still help you in many ways. Just staying off your phone can change everything, even if you don't notice it.
Being outside with no technology will make a big impact on you, for the time being. Its very good for you, both mentally and physically. While taking a hike and focusing on nature, you can remember more of your surroundings, and what is going on. According to experiments done by Juyoung Lee, being outside more often can make you more trusting and generous to others.

Well, spending time in nature can actually change many things, such as your attitude and emotions. In the article by Jill Suttie, she tells the reader about an experiment in Japan that tested how their stress levels, psychological measures and moods. People who were to walk in calm areas like forests, they had a very calm composure and heart rate, and less anxiety. The ones who were to walk in the urban areas were to report a lot different feeling to that. Nature also helps you feel happy and less broader because the environment is very calm, and you enjoy all the natural things around you, like birds chirping or the wind blowing on your face. I also feel happy and calm when I think of being at Monterey, on the beach with the wind blowing on my face, watching the water go upppp and downnn a lot. It makes you more calm. In the article, it says, "Even so, participants who walked in a natural setting versus an urban setting reported decreased rumination after the walk, and they showed increased activity in the subgenual prefrontal cortex, an area of the brain whose deactivation is affiliated with depression and anxiety—a finding that suggests nature may have important impacts on mood." When you are in a calm area, your mind forgets about all the depression and anxiety and stress and just think about the nature infront of you. I think nature can boost happiness and calmness.
