         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>Many patients are scared and in pain, and as a nurse it is your job to be there for them and help them through the emotional and physical distress they may be experiencing.  </li><li>Family members may also be scared or worried for a loved one and it is our job to listen to them and reassure them as well. </li><li>Some patients may be dealing with a new issue or diagnosis, so be patient and understanding if they have difficulty adjusting to what may be their new normal.</li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>Be open to learning new things <ul><li>Nurses can learn from patients just as patients can learn from nurses.</li></ul></li><li>It is extremely important for all nurses to identify and eliminate any prejudices, stereotypes, or bias they may have .</li><li>All patients should receive the same care as any other patient regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, or religious beliefs.</li><li>Make an effort to educate yourself about a patient's culture or religion - it will show the patient you value their beliefs.</li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>Treat each patient as an individual, not as just their illness.</li><li>Treat every patient how you would want to be treated if the roles were reversed.</li><li>As a nurse, you must be respectful of a patient's choices regarding their treatment, including refusal of treatment.<ul><li>We are there to provide  information and resources, not to make their decisions for them.</li></ul></li></ul>]]></description>
