Since 2012, Elliott Sands has served as a member of the founding team at CirrusMD, Inc. Focused on removing barriers between patients and doctors, the Denver-based telehealth company oversees a mobile and web-based text and video-chat communication platform that currently facilitates more than 3,000 medical encounters each day. As one of CirrusMD's co-founders, Elliot Sands established the company's vision and strategic direction and continues to provide critical administrative support in areas such as financing, accounting, and human resources.

In 2021, Mr. Sands brought his years of executive management experience to the SHP Foundation, a Palo Alto, California-based organization that works to provide housing for low-income and homeless populations throughout the Bay Area. As chief operating officer, he manages the foundation's $14 million budget and ensures that projects are completed on schedule. In addition, Mr. Sands works closely with other members of the leadership team to identify housing and community-based projects that align with SHP Foundation's vision and goals.

Dedicated to helping others, Elliot Sands finds time outside of his busy professional life to support various organizations. He maintains a strong presence in the religious community in San Jose, California, and serves as a board member of the Denver-based nonprofit Missions Door.

A few years back, I took over a team of about 35 people. It was a very sudden transition, and I was stepping into a new industry so I had to learn the environment, determine the issues in the organization and lead a team that in some cases liked the previous boss a lot more than they liked me. I learned quickly that being a leader is not just about being the boss. Guiding a team to success is about getting them to all row in the same direction. I was responsible for the team working together toward a common goal and following a set of shared values in a positive climate. Leaders must have communication skills, show empathy, promote transparency and openness in order to create a positive forward-moving environment.
