1. Takeaways - We appreciated the article study on student motivation and plan to hopefully implement some strategies.

2. We moved into some planning for our Informative Reading and Writing unit.

1. Pacing our projects, check off sheets for project organization, more student involvement in creating hooks and quizzes, how are we talking about the future when we talk careers-are we positive or negative.

2. Using 1 pagers in flight and space, students to create warm-up questions based on what they are interested in, work on lesson plans and resources, check out new technology

3. Money?

1. We liked the 28 Checks for Understanding article that will help add variety to our formative assessments.

2. We discussed our Unit 3 Planning Guide to implement motivation strategies and checks for understanding. i.e ways to provide students choice

1. Motivating students and letting them have autonomy to learn on their own while we still support their learning. Appreciated the CHAMPS implementation and how to be specific with what goals we have for students.

2. We moved on to how we are going to structure our final project this semester.

1. We liked the review of best practices and getting ideas to try in our classrooms. We need to have clear expectations and be intentional about teaching them.

2. We discussed our pacing guide and possible changes needed to be prepared for Topic 3 Test and Exit Ticket (CFA's) and retakes.

1. a) We are going to use white boards to quiz students on vocabulary words for quick checks for understanding.

   b) To help motivate students, allow them to group up and work together to help with student engagement.

   c) Keep reviewing Champs and expectations in our classrooms.

1. We are looking at ways to include visuals for Champs in our rehearsal spaces.

2. Discussed creating Concert Performance rubric. Discussed Musical Auditions. Discussed PD process for Missouri Music Educators Conference.

1. Takeaways- Entertainment and Engagement are two different things. Choices can increase engagement. Do not set your students up to fail with your assignments. Use various strategies to check for understanding before you release students to work independently.

2. Tackled- Reviewed data from PM. Based on current work with Data/Reflection Notebook, adjusted how the book works for next semester. Pacing for the next three weeks to the end of this semester.

   
   

3. Schedule Changes for Semester. To make sure the students are placed in the correct workshops to start in January.

   
   

1. All members attended Student Motivation. This session was a good reminder that motivation and engagement are different yet interrelated in terms of student success and hopefulness in their futures.

2. We finished our CHAMPS slides for Reading Workshop, which we will implement during the second Semester with our students to be more consistent with expectations. We also discussed our plans for the rest of December.

3. Schedules changing for 2nd semester. Meeting to make sure both PCMS and PPMS have the right students for Reading and Math Workshop starting in January?

1. Takeaways:

   We enjoyed having a "choice" of which breakout session we wanted to attend, or thought would benefit us the best.

   • We Discussions around student engagement allowed us to reflect on our own practices/procedures. This process lead to discussions on how we, as a PLT, can revise our own lessons/activities to gain more engagement from our students.

     
     

   • We talked about our next Power Standard Plan, and tried to incorporate lessons which reflected these new practices.

     
     

   • We also reviewed our data from our first CUA on Chemistry.

*Check for Understanding discussions as well as student motivations were good conversations for refinement of practices and reminders. We are taking back clarirty in practice seems to be a theme for all of us - clear is kind for students in understanding and expectations.

*We worked on on our Power Standards plan and updating the Dashboard

*I think we are rolling in a good place.

1. The 28 Checks for Understanding article gave us new and creative ways to informally assess student learning. However, it would have been nice to have had a little more time to explore the meat of the article.

2. Talked about our upcoming unit on China. Learning resources were created/shared and we worked on refining G.R.A.P.E.S assessment questions for the unit.

3. Our PLT is good!

1. We liked the discussions surrounding CHAMPS, and it made us brainstorm ways that checks for understanding are most effective in the instrumental music setting.

2. Planned out December, talked about concert prep, looked ahead to second semester

1. The morning sessions were great. We were encouraged that we are already doing some of the things taught.

2. Our team worked on a timeline for completing our current standard, we collected and shared resources, we discussed teaching modalities, and dissected learning targets & the best way to teach them to students.
