1. For remote, the discussion piece has to be modified to figure out a way to have partners discuss appropriately and productively. Could assign partners throughout the week to do a partner discussion which reduces the element of surprise. Teachers model discussion process and purposely make mistakes so students learn how to respond and reduce the fear of being wrong. Maybe use flipgrid in order to have partners discuss work.
2. see above. We are much more comfortable with the routines than the beginning of last year when it was new so that should help us adjust and making it become a natural routine even with remote changes.

1. In a remote setting, turn and talk routines will have to be modified. We will first practice sharing an idea with a stuffed animal and once students have developed the ability to articulate their thinking, we will begin learning how to have conversations with a virtual partner. Hand signals will be more important than ever as students will be muted. Co-teaching will be essential so that lesson delivery goes smoothly.
2. Last year the Try, Discuss, Connect routine, was mostly whole group with some partner discourse/work. This year, the routine will look different because we will use breakout rooms during the Try and Discuss routines to closely monitor student work and understanding.

1. In a remote setting we need to really focus on discussions with routines and procedures, especially using breakout rooms. Practice makes perfect. More planning together as a team.
Having materials ready (go bag) with a designated quiet space to learn.
2. Try, Discuss, Connect Routine will be different with student presentation. Before, Teachers would select different strategies in the classroom. Now, we will need to select based on small group discussion. Students would need to hold up their solution on a white board or piece paper. Students will not have manipulatives so it would be helpful to utilize the online tools as a model. We will need to put our minds together, be creative, and think outside the box. :)

Use crayon to display paper(can't see pencil).
Sharing done during break out, then teachers communicate who shares whole group.
2. Slower. Not all 6 steps in 1 day. Sharing will have to be in small groups. Pacing may be slower in the beginning. Keep routine even remotely.
