These two tribes were united once, but broke into two separate tribes in about 1630. This has impacted the community because of the two separate casinos we have in our area, and gives us two very different cultures. It is not taught often probably because of the lack of recorded history on it.

This some hairstyles we see today, and gives an insight on how they adapted to the lifestyle.. Hairstyles aren't a major topic, more of the clothing which is why it's not taught

Most South East New England tribes all spoke the Mohegan-Pequot language. Many roads and towns are Mohegan-Pequot words. This probably isn't regularly taught due to the language being complex and very different than European languages.

Until Europeans brought horses the Pequot people used dogs as pack animals to transport items long distances. It has shaped our community by allowing the Native Americans to spread their culture further distances with the ability to carry more. This probably isn't taught because as soon as colonists brought horses they became obsolete.
