•Some of my favorite books to read when I was young were Dr. Seuss books and any kind of picture book.

•I also loved to read books in a series such as “Ramona”, “Babysitter’s Club”, “Amelia Bedelia”, “Boxcar Children”, and “Miss Piggle Wiggle”.

•Poetry was one of my favorite genres to read.

•My mom would always take me and my siblings in the summer time to get books to read. I especially loved reading with my sister.

•I loved when my mom my would always read to me at night in a special chair before I went to bed.

•My favorite book, even to this day, is “Where the Sidewalk Ends”.

•I also loved reading non-fiction books, especially books about real-life events. 

•I really took an interest in reading about the Holocaust and anything about past presidents. When I went to Washington, D.C. in junior high, it made me want to read more about these topics, but also helped make connections to the books I had already read.

•I enjoyed reading about fictional and non-fictional detective/crime books, and scary stories.

•I also read many “feel good books” or inspirational books such as “Chicken Soup for the Soul”.

•One of my required reading books was “The Scarlet Letter”. I thought this was a very interesting and controversial book.

•When I found time, I loved reading and learning more about Shakespeare and his plays.

•Even in high school I loved reading anything written by Shel Silverstein. 

•In my teens years I enjoyed reading most when I was in the library with my friends.

•I like to read books I can make connections to. For example, I love watching The Bachelor/Bachelorette. One of the Bachelorettes wrote a book about her experience. I read the book while floating in my pool. 

•I also enjoy reading real-life crime stories. I love all the twist and turns, and trying to figure out what happened. One book I enjoyed reading was called “Shattered”. It’s about a couple that lived in my hometown, she was a teacher at my high school, and her husband attended the same high school as me.

•Now days, I also like reading self-help books, especially by Dr. Phil.
*Since I teach elementary, I love reading picture books to my students. I get very animated when I read, and try to show how enjoyable reading can be.

•As an elementary teacher, I get excited about sharing my passion for a good poetry book. I love getting the students involved in any book they are reading as much as possible. During read-alouds, I have my students take part in reading the book and acting it as well. I love encouraging them to participate in the library’s reading programs, not only during school, but during the summer as well.
