New Yorkers rely on halal carts in times of need: we trust them for a late night meal, a quick lunch before a long workday, and an affordable and nutritious meal for our loved ones. Yet, the halal cart in my neighborhood cannot rely on New York. I went to my favorite cart on a Saturday, but to get there, I had to jump over a 3 foot wall of ice and wade through deep snow. When I talked to Mohammad, a man about my age who recently immigrated from Egypt, he mentioned that he received almost no business on days like this when the sidewalks and streets had not been cleared..

I recognized a few issues here: a small business owner was unable to conduct business, the city was failing its duty to keep roads clear and safe, and it threatened the livelihood of a young entrepreneur.

Many people including my mom lost their jobs and instead of landlord showing sympathy they raise rent to an amount people can’t pay and say because they are struggling. They even kick others out when they can’t pay when a pandemic is outside and they most likely don’t have anywhere to go. Even when raising the rent so high the housing break down and not wanting to do their job and fix it. But when it comes to them gaining money they instantly want to do their job and harass others for their gain. First they the landlords need to fix their apartments and listen to tenants instead of just focusing on money and when’s the next time they’re gonna get money.

Everywhere I go I always see that people use spray cans to draw on other people's stuff. It's not your property so why are you drawing on it? And it's not like their gonna clean anyways. They do it and run away but they forget that the people their doing it to are humans too. When you go and VANDALIZE their stuff don't you think it hurts them too? I feel like this is not talked about enough and if we don't do something to stop it then one day it's going to get out of control. Next thing you know every beautiful thing like murals for example, are going to be vandalized because a bunch of teenagers can't just get a piece of paper and pencil and draw.

Subway Trains is one of the ways New Yorkers travel from one place to another. Although, it is not the safest way to travel because of the number of problems there has been in the Subways. There are unexpected chances where a person can become a victim to somebody, and this is the reason why some people fear being at the Subway. For the past few months, people have shoved others into tracks, "subway surfing," weapon violence, and public assaults. The number of suspects has increased, and police had to make many arrests. For this reason, speakers in subways stations and trains warn people to tell police if they saw something suspicious, and police have the right to check backpacks. I haven't seen anything or witnessed this, but it's shocking to see how many people die or get severely hurt. It happens in Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens. All I could say, it's very dangerous and New York is CRAZY...

Many people in NYC suffer from maintenance in their apartments all around New York. This is a big issue because many people are struggling to pay off their rent bill and even after they pay it on time landlords can't keep up with maintenance. Most residents pay off their bill on time every time and keep up with the apartment rules but are still live in a apartment that has poor maintenance. Many people struggle with having rats in their homes, mice and while other residents are in a urge for many things in their apartments to be repaired. Most of these issues are not the residents fault, we pay our rent in time and i feel that because of it we have the right to better maintenance in our community.

Mental health is an important topic but schools most of the times fail to address.
Kids go through things all the time and we try so hard so push it away and continue on with our day in school. once I saw a student crying and the staff just told her to go to class they didn’t ask her what was wrong if she was okay or nothing, she was going through a lot and needed someone their for her the staff made it worse so she told her feelings about them and got in trouble. So they don’t care about your mental health but when we express our feelings were wrong. This needs to change for the better hopefully staffs and see how they make us feel.

There is a big connection between increasing rents, and homelessness. Demand pushes rents and sale prices in certain areas higher and higher, while lower-income households are pushed outward and onto the street. In New York City, a 5% rent increase has been put into place with an additional 3,000 residents becoming homeless right after it. As housing costs skyrocket, people are being forced out of their apartments and homes, and they often have nowhere else to turn so they end up on the street, which increases the number of people that have experienced or is still experiencing homelessness.

Around 77% of 1300 high school students surveyed said that they did not like the food and half said they ate school lunch two days a week or less. This is a problem because every students need something to eat and to be energized to focus in class. But most of the time school lunches look nasty and taste nasty. Then students are not able to focus in class since they are hungry and tired from not eating anything.

Food has been made to seem as easily disposable, thrown away. Perfectly good food are being thrown out each day wasted. The food scrapes from your dinner make up around 19 percent of the waste dumped in landfills ,where it ends up in landfills all rotting away. From New York alone about 3.9 million of food are wasted which is a huge contribution to the methane gas production. This is very devastating when 1.5 million people aren't able to bring food to the table family. How come 3.9 million foods are being able to be thrown away when less than half cannot feed their family?

It even can cause fire hazards and chemical contamination. The city can solve this problem by rewarding the people who don't litter.
