This poem relates to Walter because this is all the stages that he wants to go through in the book. He also thinks that money is important and necessary because he thinks money is more important than life itself. He also doesn't own much money so he borrows some form Mama to open the liquor store. He then also cries after losing the money because he though he can trust  friend but then the friend stole his money. Then they go to even more poverty because Walter's friend stole all the money so they go really poor. He is then satisfied when mama come to him and talks to him about how she has been through harder times.
