The Harlem Renaissance marked the rise of Jazz. Jazz contributed to the growing popularity of night clubs at this time. The night clubs including the Apollo Theater, the Savoy Ballroom, and the Cotton Club created an intimate atmosphere that allowed Jazz to thrive. During this time no two shows were the same because the bands improved a majority of their show. Musicians Billie Holiday, Chick Webb, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Florence Mills, and Adelaide Hall all thrived during the Harlem Renaissance.
