We measure the distance from shoreline using a measuring tape. 
As the slope does not have distinct slope breaks, so we have decided to measure the slope gradient at 2 metres intervals. So the distance between 2 rangings poles is 2 metres. We were taught by our Tutor to collect them with some huge leaves around the beach. This is resourceful and environmental friendly. We then return them to the nature after our analysis, without polluting our environment. - This is how Geographers should be!
