It talks about how this is the "wrath of God," and how this is the sinner's fault. Also, it goes on to talk about how you would be punished in details, describing the lava as a "burning brimstone," which shows you that you will perish in the worst way possible.

The author tries to show the reader by repeating the words "ages" as well as "millions" to emphasize the point at hand.
