Comprehending all of those things as he sped downward, he was free to enjoy the breathless glee that overwhelmed him: the speed, the clear cold air, the total silence, the feeling of balance and excitement and peace” (Lowry, 78).
Why this is a favorite memory for Jonas is because it shows his joy and also shows him riding a sled on a path which kinda represents him starting his life kinda and showing that this is where he starts to grow. He is also experiencing fun joy, colors, and snow.

It was daylight, early morning, and the air was thick with smoke that hung, yellow and brown, above the ground. Around him, everywhere, far across the expanse of what seemed to be a field, lay groaning men. One of Jonas's arms was immobilized with pain, and he could see through his own torn sleeve something that looked like ragged flesh and splintery bone. He tried his remaining arm and felt it move. Slowly he reached to his side, felt the metal container there, and removed its cap, stopping the small motion of his hand now and then to wait for the surging pain to ease. I chose this part of the giver because it represents the first time Jonas experience a massive amount of physical and mental pain since his arm was immobilized and in a lot of pain and it was in a war and he saw everyone screaming and had wounds so it represented a very painful memory to him.

We both have learned to be grateful for positive memories that maybe others can't experience like us for example in the book everyone doesn't have any fun and joyful memories, and there may be others in this world that currently aren't experiencing joyful and fun memories and are just having normal boring lives like the normal people in giver book.

Jonas and I are different as well because we both may have experienced painful memories but in the end I haven't experienced the amount of pain Jonas has experienced from receiving painful memories. For example Jonas had to experience a war where his arm was immobilized and filled with pain and saw his comrades filled with pain begging for water. He also experienced breaking his leg and many other painful memories. We also went to a lot of places and went to the pyramids and a lot of amusement parks. They would ask me all these questions about how is in America. Overall it was a very important or fun memory. He was chasing after me and I was running. WhIle I was running, I wasn't paying attention and then I tripped over a curb. I then fell on my knee and scraped it on the cement. It was kind of bad and it was bleeding badly. T then got treated but it was very painful and It had a big mark on it later and still kind of has a mark on where it got scraped.
