Place some marking (velcro, tape something) on the floor in a back corner or somewhere out of the way. Allow students to visit this spot to move while you are teaching - with expectations - like quiet and still listening.

Talk with the Hearing Itinerant or Case Manager to get the correct cords to be able to connect an FM system to your sound system.

Writing things in bigger print or making bigger print on paper for those that have a hard time seeing help for this. Also, if you can, seeing if you can find a bigger screened computer for those that may need it.

In band we partnered our visually impaired student (on percussion) with another student. Since the visually impaired (low vision) student could not see the downbeat and conducting pattern, the partner would count out loud to assist.

Singing Bowls/Sound Therapy

Use singing bowls to help regulate nervous system, calm students, grab attention, center attention back to task at hand, create calm moments (time to breathe) during class. (Be aware of student with epilepsy may or may not trigger neuro response)

I also do sound baths during testing week to reduce anxiety, relax nervous systems, and create focus in students.

Mindfulness breathing techniques. Box breath, triangle breath, etc. can regulate behaviors and mood. Also tied in with testing.

Quiet space for specific children in a remote location where they can hear/see what’s going on but the student can receive comfort of some sort (such as use the breathing techniques posted on the walls, hold a stuffed animal or bean bag, etc).
