I have been able to see this at my school through the way we have a staff focus on prayers each week in staff meeting and work with all classrooms to deliver morning prayers and then masses as well.

Building/extension plans are being conducted at the moment at my school, and this process has involved consultation with all stakeholders, including the local community, not just the whim of the school.

Personally I interpret this as...we use the Bible to teach moral and social skill stories and to invite the children to connect on a relatable level with positivity about good actions and morals.

If upheld in a way which exemplifies the gospel and the teachings of Jesus and the bible in general then the role of teacher should be unique in that one should be following the teachings, values etc as demonstrated by Jesus moving away from the world and not compromising one's beliefs. Relating religious education to students’ lives can be a challenge. Teaching older students can mean dealing with more disengaged kids or kids who have already “decided” what their beliefs are. I find that bringing the teachings of the Gospel into modern life is a good way to make things relevant to students and therefore more meaningful.

The culture we live in having a skewed view of the Faith. I find the students much more receptive after hearing from a person truly living their faith.

Sometimes the business of the school day and stresses that it brings can impact the time I have to unpack the students questions and build on their learning around the gospels. I try to remember that this is time spent well.

Students’ home life often doesn’t line up with the Catholic Church which makes it difficult to teach at school. Families often aren’t Catholic yet choose to send their sons and daughters to a Catholic School. I find this to be a major challenge across the Catholic school system in Tasmania.

I can allow Jesus to grow in my life and teaching by putting Him at the centre of everything I do. By showing His love, humility, and truth in my words and actions, others can see more of Him and less of me. For example, when conflicts arise in class, I try to respond with patience and forgiveness, showing my students how Christ’s love guides our actions.

the general demographic of my school is low and most of the students/families don’t follow catholic religion. This can be a challenge when teaching gospel values as the kids can have differing beliefs. I aim to teach them about using these values in their lives - be kind to others, love one another. I always try to connect my lessons to values they will use in their lives.
