This is an excerpt from "The Sociopath Next Door" by Martha Stout Ph. D pages 123-124.
"The Texas Adoption Project, which has now been in progress for over thirty years, is a highly regarded longitudinal study of more than five hundred adopted children. The study looks at the acquisition of intelligence and various personality features, including the

"Psychopathic Deviate" pattern, by comparing adopted children, now grown, with both their biological and adoptive parents. The Texas Adoption Project reports that, where scores on the Pd scale are concerned, individuals resemble their birth mothers, whom they have never met, significantly more than they do the adoptive parents who raised them. From this research, a heritability estimate of 54 percent can be derived, and interestingly, this "Psychopathic Deviate" figure is consistent with the heritability estimates-35 to 50 percent generally found in studies of other, more neutral personality characteristics (extraversion, empathy, and so forth).
Over and again, heritability studies come up with a statistical finding that has emotionally charged social and political implications-that indeed a person's tendency to possess certain sociopathic characteristics is partially born in the blood, perhaps as much as 50 percent so."

The highlighted portion is the claim, and the claim is supported by a reputable longitudinal study mentioned prior.

This is a YouTube video briefly explaining the 1960's presidential debate. This was the first televised presidential debate in US history. Prior to televised debates, the debates would be broadcasted on the radio and printed in the newspaper. During this time period not everyone owned a television yet and some people had to read/listen to the debate in the paper versus seeing the televised debate. Individuals who saw the debate versus read/listened to the debate tended to favor one candidate more than the other. According to an article from the History Channel, it says that "And yet, while most radio listeners called the first debate a draw or pronounced Nixon the victor, the senator from Massachusetts won over the 70 million viewers by a broad margin." (https://www.history.com/.amp/topics/us-presidents/kennedy-nixon-debates). This clearly demonstrates the importance of modality because although everyone received the same messages from the candidates, the modality in which they heard the debate heavily swayed their opinion on the victor.
