I enjoyed observing the daily routines and the supportive roles in which the staff supported the residents. It was interesting and informative to spend time with dementia patients, longer then the usual hour within the ambulance setting. I learned from this experience, that even in advanced dementia patients still retain their character and individual personalities. Additionally, I was able to first hand witness the challenges staff face with supporting residents. Very respectful of the role of a paramedic and what this involved and how the roles are linked. The role of a DN is very similar to a Paramedic but at a much slower pace.
