Utilising After Effects to create the typography animations allowed me to experiment with my own creativity and to create a vast variety of projects. Within each project, I kept the text simple and short, for example, keeping only a few words in a text box at a time. This allowed for a complex visual hierarchy, allowing audiences to focus on specific, quick-timed visuals rather than a larger script. Furthermore, I mastered the aesthetics of timing and rhythm, specifically in task 3, as I successfully timed the text animations to the audio, linking the two together. I kept the motion of flow consistent throughout all animations, both 2D and 3D. Within the 3D space, I developed a deep and comprehensive knowledge of the camera angles to control the perspective of the animations. This depth of field allowed me to effectively pinpoint specific locations and positions of things, like shifting camera perspectives to move the spotlight or to move the solid background to be within frame.

Additionally, I also utilised a combination of certain technical skills within the motion design assignment. For example, whilst using Adobe After Effects, I became a lot more comfortable and knowledgeable within the platform. I became familiar with the layout and panels, and composition settings. Furthermore, I also effectively learned how to animate text in a 3D space. I learnt how to manipulate not only text in a 3D setting, but also camera, solids, objects, light and shadows. Finally, I also successfully learned and reflected on keyframe animation, the foundation of this assignment. Using this skill, I successfully learned how to animate text and other attributes by adjusting certain properties, such as size, scale, position, orbit and rotation. Utilising the z, x and y axis allowed me within the 3D animation settings to properly and effectively position the text and objects in certain ways that reflected my imagination.

Furthermore, using the animation presets, I was able to develop a deep understanding of typography and motion design animation as a whole. For example, within the 2D scape, I utilised the easing-in and easing-out animation presets to seamlessly move texts in and out of sequences. Also, utilising the keyframes and locked positions allowed me to move the text wherever I wanted at whatever time I wanted. For example, in both the 3D and 2D projects, I used this feature to move text in and out of frame, or around the frame in whatever manner or time I wanted, clearly highlighting my knowledge of motion design. To add to this, I also utilised exaggeration within my animations to make the animations appear more intense and interesting, making the text move in unconventional and highly experimental ways. I developed a key understanding of the use of layers within After Effects, specifically in task 3. For example, whilst following the audio, having specific text on specific layers allowed me to link the text perfectly to the audio.

Overall, after this assignment, I have developed a complex knowledge of the mastery of aesthetics, technical skills, and the comprehension of motion design as a whole, effectively highlighting my understanding of typography within the motion design space.
