1. Week 6 Goal

My goal for Week 6 is to speak more clearly and confidently in English.
I want to practise talking in full sentences and use eye contact so people understand me better.
The habits I will use are:

Practising speaking for 5 minutes, 2–3 times a week.

Using clear and simple words when I talk.

Making eye contact when I speak to someone.

2. Start Applying

To start applying, I will:

Record a short video of myself talking about my day.

Practise speaking English with a classmate or my homestay family.

Try to answer at least one question in class using full sentences.

3. Collecting Evidence

I will collect evidence by:

Uploading my practice video to Padlet.

Writing short reflections after I practise, e.g., what was easy, what was hard.

Asking my friend or teacher to write short feedback on how clear my speaking was.

4. Judging

I will gain feedback by asking my Accountability Buddy to listen to me speak or watch my video.
I want to know if:

My sentences are clear,

My eye contact is better,

And if I sound more confident.

To prepare for critical feedback, I will remind myself that feedback helps me improve, and I will write down the advice so I don’t forget.

Questions I can ask my Accountability Buddy:

Did I speak clearly and slowly enough?

Did my eye contact make you feel I was confident?

Was it easy to understand my main idea?

Which part of my speaking needs the most improvement?

Do you think I am improving compared to last time?

Q:Can you identify causes for any challenges or setbacks you faced? What factors contributed most?

A:Sometimes I feel shy to speak in class, and I worry my English is not perfect so people maybe don’t understand me. When I try to talk fast, my brain and mouth not match, then I get nervous and forget what I want to say. Also, I didn’t practise enough before, so sometimes I don’t know how to start talking. The biggest challenge is I am scared to make mistakes and feel embarrassed.

Q:Which strategy are you going to continue and which were less impactful?

From the evidence you’ve collected, which piece would you defend as the strongest demonstration of your growth?

A：I will continue practising speaking in small groups and asking questions in class. This strategy help me feel more relaxed because the group is smaller, and I can think slower and speak more clearly. A strategy that was less useful for me is just reading notes, because reading doesn’t really improve my speaking confidence, I need to actually speak.

My strongest evidence is the group discussion activity, where I shared my ideas and my classmates understood me. Before I don’t talk much, but in that task I tried and I felt proud after. It show I am not scared like before and I am improving step by step.
