The response from others

I am a woman and because I am a woman people treat me a certain way and I have responded to that sort of treatment. So everything I think, everything I do is from a woman's perspective. And, what I don't know is whether that "woman" perspective came from my environment or is it a hormonal thing? Who knows? The fact is, I am a softy and I am very nurturing and these things alter my perspective when I am interacting with others.

Two very different cultures under one roof

This is the base of my perspective in life. I grew up with two different cultures. One of them being the hispanic culture and the other being the Idahoan way. In my mind, I know that there isn't a "right" way or "wrong" way of doing things. There are just different ways of doing things and some ways work for us and some don't. This perspective has made me very open minded to new things and different ways of thinking. I try to understand that while each of us may have different cultures, we're not all that different. Which has ultimately made me less judgmental and more adaptive.

I have worked for a law firm (the same law firm) for over 10 years now. And, the best sentence I can come up with that sums my learning in those years about the law is that the truth is so incredibly gray. Everybody wants to make the best argument and display the "facts" in the best light. Where the truth lies is always gray. Its my job to find the best facts about a case and a lot of experiences in life has lead me to be very open in my perspective and in my job, I have continued to develop that openness in perspective.

Becoming a mom changed everything...especially my perspective

Its not about me anymore. That's what happened the day I found out I was pregnant. I am a young and I have had to think about someone outside of myself for over 16 years now. The things that mattered before I was pregnant - didn't matter after I got pregnant. So I had to take my solo perspective and expand it to another human being. Everything I did and do has to be what's best for them and not necessarily me. And the fears changed -thats when I changed.

As a kid, we didn't have a lot of money and I grew up in poor neighborhoods. As I got older and in my teenage years, my parents made a little more and then a little more. Now as a grown adult my social economic status is more middle class rather than lower class. Having this sort of background with different tiers of social economic status throughout my life has given me the ability to know what its like to not have enough money to make ends meet and to also know what its like to have money in savings and not worry about paying your bills or buying the food. And, my perspective in this regard is to try not to take things for granted and to help where I can, when I can.
