I actually really enjoy this class compared to some of the other courses I am enrolled in, which is strange because I am not a big fan of history or geography. I really like that each week is a new topic, and your grading is really straightforward from day one (some of my classes have not graded any assignments yet, so I have no idea how they are going). I do think that not having experience with Non-Western politics it is sometimes awkward to engage as a whole class, so I definitely prefer the group discussions.

I really like how informative this class has been. Honestly, I like how it discusses topics that is not covered by the media because it really gives an insight on modern politics. However, I wish there was more engagement in the course. I could see how the daily journals could help but i feel like its just a lot of information being pushed out to both me and the rest of the class but not enough of that information sticks to us and it makes it difficult to understand the course as well as the exams for the course as well. Perhaps if there was some sort of discussion catalyst that gave some insight for things that I could look for in the readings such as, "What was this persons theory, Why was it important..." essentially anything that could help me process all of the information would be nice as well. I believe if there was something for the class to look for in a discussion catalyst, students can come into class better prepared in understanding both the lectures and the readings and it will create more engagement with the text and questions asked during class time. I would also suggest that there should be a quiz on Fridays due at 11:59 (nothing much, kinda like a 10 question quiz) just to recap the major information about the regions that we recently learned about. I feel as if these were implemented in class, students will have a better understanding about the regions and will remember more topics discussed in class. It will also improve test scores and help the structure of the course.

I would appreciate it if the PowerPoints can be uploaded to HuskyCT before class. There's times I'll miss something in the presentation since the slides move so fast. I'm actually a notetaker in this class so it would help me if I would be able to look at the presentation while also looking at the notes.
