The day is October 12th, 1964. We had just launched into orbit onboard the Voshkod 1 spacecraft with my 2 other crew mates. We had a mission that was very time sensitive which was to conduct multiple experiments which could only be done in space. When we first got into earths orbit, we had about a day to conduct these extensive experiments which had our crew extremely busy and it almost gave us no time to admire that we were actually in space. Although we were very excited, we needed to do our work in order to help the soviet union beat America in what they called "The space race". Now, I will admit that I was a bit nervous to be on board and for good reason, Me and my companion, Yegorov, were set to be the first civilians to go to space, and even though we had both extensive training, it was still quite nerve racking.

As we were finally landing back on Earth, we all had become quit disoriented and very nauseous due to the extreme pressure on our heads. Sadly, our commander of the mission named Vladimir, was killed when his parachute failed to open when he was coming to the ground. Yegorov and I however, landed safely. I later received two prestigious awards that included the "Hero of the Soviet Union", "The Order of Lenin", and the "Veteran of Labour" medal.
