Praia de Samil is the principal beach of Vigo in Galicia in north-west Spain.
Located near the Cíes Islands, the mouth of the river Lagares is found at its west end. The beach is 1,700 metres (5,600 ft) long and is connected with the urban public transport, and disabled access is available during the summer. Several Vitrasa urban public transport lines connect it with different areas of the city. Around Samil, several services have been created: museums several catering premises, clubs and cafés. Its promenade covers the littoral zone and it offers several leisure facilities.

Located in the beautiful Castrelos Park, a visit to the Quiñones de León Museum in Vigo means an interesting and relaxed afternoon. In total, there are 29 permanent exhibition halls. The downstairs area still offers the atmosphere of an old stately residence, with decorative art pieces from the 18th to the 20th century, as well as an impressive collection of European paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries, which include stored pieces from the Prado Museum and the former National Museum of Modern Art. The Quiñones de León Museum also has an annexed building that holds the archaeology section, with pieces from Vigo and its surroundings ranging from the Palaeolithic to the Middle Ages.

Location: Illa de Toralla


Toralla is a small island located on the south coast of the Vigo estuary ( Spain), about 400 meters from the Vao beach.


It is urbanized, has an area of ​​10.6 hectares and is connected to the coast of Vigo by a 400-meter-long bridge for public use that starts from Vao beach .


In addition, it is a private island,  although attempts have recently been made to open it to the public, without success. The island had 135 inhabitants in 2009.

The road started from Porta do Sol and continued through what is now Rúa Urzáiz. Later it was named Calle del Príncipe (Rúa do Príncipe) in honor of the son of Isabel II, and with that name it has come to the present day, its limits being the Porta do Sol and the one known as Plaza da Farola, located at the confluence with the Ronda de Don Bosco, Rúa Colón and Rúa Urzáiz.

It is the most commercial street in the city. Its establishments make up a rosary that extends through the adjacent streets : López de Neira, Eduardo Iglesias and Velázquez Moreno. In the past, its commercial influence competed with that of Porta do Sol, where there were important establishments such as La Villa de París and El Louvre, among others, and with Rúa Elduayen, where there were jewelry stores and textile shops. However, over the years, the main shops moved towards Rúa do Príncipe and Rúa Urzáiz itself.

Located in the Porta do Sol, this sculpture by Galician artist Francisco Leiro is one of the symbols of modern Vigo: its style and the very high pedestal on which it stands make it an impressive work of art. The sculpture was installed in 1991 and represents an imaginary character, a hybrid of fish and man. Baiona is a town and municipality in the province of Pontevedra, autonomous community of Galicia, Spain.


It's a tourist town with a medieval historical center situated by the outlet of the Vigo Bay. Its population of just over 11,000 rises to around 45,000 in the summer, if one includes tourists. Since it is on the Portuguese Way path of the Camino de Santiago 30,000 hikers also visit every year. Other than tourism the major economic activities revolve around fishing.

We also found a great video which shows the incredible city of Baiona in Galicia. The shots are gorgeous and we really admire the amazing landscape of this region. The two persons who are involved in the video also do  horse riding on the hills of Galicia showing the breathtaking view of the region. What is more, they cook in Baionia's castle some delicious plates of spanish cuisine. We hope that you will find it interesting.
