Throughout the novel, we have learned about Stargirl's outgoing personality and how different she is from others. One characteristic that stuck out to me, especially in this chapter was her sense of style. When she was attending the Ocotillo Ball, her dress was far more sophisticated than the other girls. She stood out as usual. In the text, Leo stated, "Her strapless gown is a bright, rich yellow as if pressed from buttercups. There must be one of those hooped contraptions underneath, for the skirt billows outward from her waist like an upside-down teacup...From a rawhide string around her neck dangles a white inch-long banana-shaped fossil" (Spinelli 168). When Stargirl walks into a room she immediately stops the crowd. All eyes are drawn to her because she is different from the rest. Her bright yellow dress has a crinoline cage underneath it! That is something girls used to wear in the 1850s! I would never expect anyone besides Stargirl to show up like that. She was wearing a bone necklace! Just picture Hillari Kimble in that attire. Not to mention all the boys attending the dance wore the same baby blue tuxedo. Stargirl is far more different from the rest of the students at Mica High and is the only one who is true to herself and her ambitions.

"'Gave up herself, for a while there. She loved you that much. What an incredibly lucky kid you were.' I could not look at him 'I know'"(Spinelli 178). This quote from the text stood out to me. Like we have talked about before Stargirl changed who she was for Leo. (not for everyone though) But I believe that in that moment her didn't let the information process. Now he is actually realizing how much she did and sacrificed for him. Because he now knows this he is starting to feel bad and almost regret what he told/made her do. Overall this quote was very powerful to me and I believe it was a big wake up call for Leo.

In my opinion I didn't like the ending of Stargirl because I didn't expect it to end so abruptly. I wanted it to end with a stargirls perspective on why she changed or why she does all of this. Hillary disappeared after the dance and without an explanation for the way she treated stargirl. Instead it ended with Leo trying to find an "explanation" for her. I wanted Leo and Stargirl to have a happy ending because they were so in love with each other and Stargirl really loved Leo and even with the current end of the book you can figure that Leo also still loves stargirl. Overall I liked the book because it is kind of related to the current life of middle school. This book is very much showcased for our theme "identity". Stargirl is put out to us as "weird" "unusual" but in reality she is just how we all are, a little childish. She is just not afraid to show everyone her childish side, and that is the reason people at school were afraid of her; her guts. I feel like hillary didn't hate star girl but she was just afraid of how stargirl didn't care about hillary and how hillarys spotlight was shifted to stargirl after she came. Wayne parr is just like all the popular people in school, they didnt do anything yet all people are crazy about them. This book gave us an idea that you aren't weird because you like different things from people that just make you, you. Wayne and Hillary were portrayed as evil but they were just a little insecure. I feel like we should've gotten the perspective of both of them and tried to understand them. The book shouldn't have ended so flat and should have at least been left off on a cliffhanger. The next book is the perspective of stargirl and I hope that gives us an explanation of everything.

At the end of the book "Stargirl" there is a time jump to 15 years later. I do not personally like how there was just a big jump to where the characters are now. I did like the last part of the book when Stargirl went back to herself. I also like the last part when Hilliari and Stargirl kind of make friends. I also like when Leo realizes that he can change the way Stargirl looks but he cannot change her personality. But he also realizes that he loves Stargirl for her. When Stargirl moves away he realizes that he still loves her and wants to be with her. I love the part when Leo is with Archie and they are talking and Archie is telling him about stargirl and how she is wise behond her years and people should be different like her and not try to be like every one else.

One of my last annotations for the book "Stargirl" was on page 169 at Stargirl's and Leo's prom. I annotated the whole page and everything about the prom because it shows how Stargirl got everyone hyped up. She was the life of the party in other words. I thought about how everyone came together for this party and everything seemed right. I thought this was a beautiful part of the book because it shows how almost everything including hate was forgotten and everyone just got along. I believe this is a big step in the book because it shows how even through hate and jealousy at the end of the day everyone can come together and be happy and forget their worries. I really liked this book and I believe it taught me some very important things such as what I just described. In conclusion, these are my thoughts on Startgirl's and Leo's prom.

At the end of the book, we learned that Stargirl had left school for good. She had moved to Minnesota and did not even finish the school year. As time passed Leo was ready to attend college, yet still had so many questions regarding her existence and his feelings. Before Leo left he went to visit Archie one last time and Archie told him, "Stargirl, though I think she had simpler things in mind. Star people are rare. You'll be lucky to meet another" (Spinelli 177). Archie is known for his mysterious quotes that leave Leo hanging, but I think this one has a deeper meaning. Leo seems to realize that he was a lucky man to have had Stargirl in his life. He blew his chance with her but learned a lot. He even got an insight into her past office which no one else had ever seen. Stargirl opened Leo's eyes and because of Archie he now realizes the importance of all the things she had taught him. He now pays more attention to his surroundings and even reads the specialty section in the newspaper that talks about other people in the town. Stargirl left her mark and now Leo realizes it is his time to make his. Overall, I enjoyed the book Stargirl and am hoping to read the sequel.
