Spain is a critical country in this perspective because its government did not start by taking the right measures from the first infection. Now, to control the large numbers of infections and deaths, the government will seek to extend one of the strictest lockdowns outside of China to April 11.The country is the fourth-most infected behind China, Italy and the U.S.

Citizens can’t get out of their houses unless if it’s to grocery shop, go to the pharmacy or the doctor. Non-vital travel will be banned for 30 days around the whole country.

They transformed IFEMA conference room in Madrid to a sort of “hospital” full of beds for infected people. The government has been urgently summing personnel, including doctors, nurses and security guards, to help with the number of infected.

The government began distributing 640,000 rapid coronavirus testing kits purchased from China. They expect to increase the number of test a day from 15,000-20,000 people a day to 80,000 people a day. They will use robots to carry out tests.

Public events and festivities, as well as schools, got cancelled so people don’t leave their house.

It is the most infected country on Europe and in the world after China. This is due to the late action of the government that now is paying back. They have to take extremely emergency measures:

The prime minister ordered people to stay home and ask for permission to travel if it is extremely necessary.

All sporting events got suspended in the whole country, including football ligues and matches.

Schools and universities will remain closed until 3 April

Travelling is only permitted for those with a valid work or family reason that cannot be postponed.

Peoples with intentions of leaving or entering the country must also have a good justification to do so.

There is more people infected in the country than what testing numbers have shown so far. Numbers are going to get worse, but this is difficult to predict since prevention measures are getting adopted. However, the sickness is not being taking seriously in comparison to other countries.

By applying the basic methods like closing schools, banning mass gatherings, and testing and quarantining sick people and their contacts, the spread is expected to reduce, especially in the states where the sickness has not fully “evolved”

In California, 1 every 5 people are going to be in orders to stay home aiming to stop the spread. Other states are expected to follow the statement.

Although measures are being taken, this is not happening in all the country. Some malls remain open in Chicago, and some businesses are expecting employees to go to work.

Small businesses are getting affected and others refuse to shut down until “someone demands them to”.

Researchers affirm that measures to slow the disease have to be effective, to prevent the virus from sickening millions of people or more.
