One of my students (a young Black woman) has come a couple of times to my drop-in hours, and we’ve made a really good connection. We talk about all sorts of stuff (not just strictly related to classroom), and the last time we spoke, she started talking about race, and what it’s like to be Black on a PWI (primarily white institution) campus - having a white roommate, being nervous when the police are around, getting involved with BSU. It’s weird.
